Job Description
Maranatha Health is seeking to recruit a Finance and Business Manager in a newly created senior position to join our hard working 40 person team in Fort Portal, Kabarole District. The ideal candidate would be integral, skilled in strategic thinking, experienced in financial management, and share our vision for justice and compassion for the poor. Background Maranatha Health is a Christian not-for-profit organisation working in Kabarole District that is committed to raising health outcomes, empowering the poor and making positive, lasting change in Uganda. We run a 30 bed children’s hospital as well as associated community programs in our region to ensure the poor can access high quality health care. Role Finance and Business Manager This role has primary responsibility for the planning, implementation, management and oversight of all the finance and administrative activities of Maranatha Health, in close partnership with the Executive Team. .
Core responsibilities include:
• Oversight of the organisations’ finances, including the managing, recording and accounting for all
• Maranatha Health’s resources in line with international accounting standards and Ugandan laws
• Providing strategic recommendations and advice on all matters pertaining to finance and business activities of the organisation
• Managing the processes for financial forecasting and budgets across departments, and overseeing the preparation of all financial reporting to management, donors and directors
• Ensuring the finance department maintains complete, accurate, up-to-date, confidential, wellorganised financial and administration records
• Providing leadership, support and supervision to members of the finance and administration team, including the finance officer, reception staff and HR officer
• Ensuring the finance team and wider organisation is adhering to accounting, administration and HR procedures, protocols and internal controls to ensure accountability for the resources of MH and stewardship of a high ethical standard.
• To highlight and address any issues promptly that may undermine these standards
• Immediately reporting any financial irregularities or malpractice to the management team, the Directors and Board
Core criteria
• A degree level or higher qualification in finance, administration or management
• A CPA (either complete or nearing completion)
• 5 years of management experience, including experience with budgeting, payroll, taxation etc
• Excellent computer literacy, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Quickbooks
• Demonstrated integrity and compassion
