This position is ideal for a dynamic accountant that is looking to play a key role as part of the countries new management team. The role would best suit an all-rounder that is able to manage a team as well as provide input into the optimising of operations and overall strategy formulation.

Responsibilities:

1) Management responsibilities

• Serve as member of executive team and assist in determination of company strategy
• Work with and manage a finance team
• Make Unifi Uganda an adventurous and desirable place to work
• Contribute to growth of Unifi Credit as a key player in the Ugandan microfinance industry

2) Accounting/Bookkeeping

• Daily reconciliations of entity transactions
• Preparations of monthly accounts
• Assist with the annual audit
• Annual budgeting
• Manage creditors and bill payments

3) Taxation

• Manage the payroll function
• Lodge and reconcile indirect taxes (Payroll and VAT)
• Liaise with Uganda Revenue Authority where required

4) Operational

• Work with direct debits teams (external and internal) to manage collections
• Analyse and optimise accounting ratios to improve profitability
• Manage spending decisions
• Manage cash flow and external financing where required

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field
• ACCA or CA qualified
• Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Detail-oriented and analytical

Experience

• 3+ Years senior or managerial role in a public or private practise accounting role
• Experience working with major Ugandan banking systems and process, particularly direct debit highly sought after
