Job Description
Title of the position: Food Safety Manager
Department: Operations
Reports to: Operations Director
Overall responsibility
The Food Safety Manager’s role is to manage and maintain the FSMS in accordance with ISO 22000:2018.
He/she will ensure that sound food safety practices are identified, documented and fully aligned to the organisation’s strategy, whilst ensuring that these are understood, and complied with to enable \the organisation exceed its statutory, and contractual obligations in managing Food Safety aspects across the diverse risk landscape
Key areas of responsibility
S/he will carry out the following duties:
• Ensuring that the FSMS conforms to the requirements of ISO 22000:2018 and responsible for conducting and scheduling periodic audits (internal and external) to ensure ongoing compliance
• Reporting on the performance of the FSMS including opportunities for improvement to top management
• Ensuring that the integrity of the FSMS is maintained when changes to the FSMS are planned and implemented
• Ensuring that all FSMS documentation is kept up to date as required
• Providing advice, guiding, supporting, promoting awareness and coaching all personnel with the implementation of the company’s policies and procedures
• Overall responsibility for all food safety incidents and investigations
• Provide Legislative and regulatory advice to the Management team on all matters relating to FSMS
• Any other duties at the request of the management

• Good report writing / documentation / record keeping skills;
• Good follow up skills.
Desired Competences
• Bachelors in Food Science/Chemistry/Bio-Technology
• Knowledge and experience in ISO 22000;
• Proven experience working in a Food safety role in manufacturing industry;
• Ability to build relationships and influence people at all levels;
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, have a personable nature;
• Commitment to working as part of a team;
• Recognized food safety qualification like lead auditor’s qualification in ISO 22000:2018.
