Job Title: Fundraising and Communications Officer
Organization: Action for Fundamental Change and Development- (AFFCAD.)
Duty Station: Kampala Uganda
Reports to: Programs Director.

Action for Fundamental Change and Development (AFFCAD) is an NGO founded in 2009, working to transform living conditions in Kampala’s poorest slum areas by empowering the youth, children and women to mitigate extreme vulnerabilities through Education, Economic Empowerment and Health programs.
Job Summary
The Fundraising & Communications Officer is responsible for raising funds and resources for AFFCAD from multiple sources not limited to writing Grants and developing income streams. Responsible for creation and implementation of communication strategies that further our goals. As AFFCAD expands, we need someone who will promote our brand. .
Duties and Responsibilities
Fundraising (50%):
• Contribute to grant writing /trust applications.
• Implement the organization’s fundraising plan.
• Maintaining existing and developing new relationships with funders, businesses and individuals in order to raise funds, event, and campaign support for the organization.
• Write reports to prepare presentations to communicate fundraising program and communication data.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects through ongoing business development, networking, connecting, and proposing engagement opportunities.
Communications (30%)
• Implement compelling PR and creative strategies to boost awareness of the charity and important work carried out.
• Collaborate with management to develop and implement effective communication strategies based on AFFCAD target audience.
• Write speeches, press releases or other promotional material to increase awareness of the causes, missions or goals of organization seeking funds.
• Regularly update AFFCAD websites and social media platforms.
• Establish and monitor key media contacts and relations.
• Work with external graphic designer to develop event and campaign marketing and promotional materials.
• Design, produce and dissemination of AFFCAD visibility materials.
• Coordinate the publication of AFFCAD quarterly newsletter or news article.
Project planning and Reporting (20%)
• Work with the Programs Director to plan, coordinate and implement the activities and programs.
• Ensure that all communications and visibility materials align with AFFCAD standards.
• Take lead in the roll out of all AFFCAD awareness campaigns.
• Track analytical and create reports detailing success and failures. of the communication campaign.
• Perform any other duties as assigned..
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
• The ideal candidate must hold degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or any other related field.
• Two years’ experience in a communications, marketing or journalist role.
• Experience in children, youth or women project management with a proven track record of delivering on objectives will be an added advantage.
• Excellent and exceptional writing, editing and reporting skills.
• Strong experience I website management and social media management.
• Proactive and motivated with strong commitment to AFFCAD vision, mission and values.
• Strong communicator who works well independently and with a team.
• Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and within a small dynamic team.
• Standard office ICT skills.
