Main Responsibilities

  • The Expansion Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, development and execution of Jumia Uganda’s growth initiatives in towns and cities outside of Kampala.
  •  Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the EM’s primary responsibility is to generate revenue by increasing visibility and sales through successful marketing for the entire organization, using market research, partnerships, affiliates, marketing communications, and local public relations.

In particular you will:

  • Develop a growth plan and in line with overall business strategy and goals.
  • Manage city managers
  • Collaborate effectively with other members of leadership team to ensure alignment of marketing, commercial, and operations business plan
  • Utilize superior understanding of consumer insights and deep knowledge of local trends to identify innovative ideas for profitable growth and execute them
  • Managing relationships with local partners in a matured and cohesive manner that brings the best of collaboration to the benefit of the company

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • An advanced degree in Marketing and Business (MBA)
  • Experience in managing commercial teams or large projects (10+ years of experience)
  • Expertise generating, prioritizing, testing, and delivering on ideas that could drive 10 percent growth as well as 10x growth
  • Strong entrepreneurial skills
  • Strong management & leadership skills
  • Very ecommerce friendly
  • Impeccable communication skills
  • Impeccable analytical skills
  • Capacity to challenge and improve processes
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced and competitive environment
