Job Description


Reporting to the Chief Change and Innovation Officer (CCIO), the job holder will lead the Product Development and Innovation team in its drive to support the transformation agenda of dfcu Bank towards a modern digitised Bank with leadership in operational excellence and customer service.

Key Accountabilities:
• Responsible for driving the Product Development, Digital Transformation, and Innovation agenda of the Bank to reach its strategic aspirations.
• Support the realization of optimum client focus, with products and systems above market or at par with industry standards.
• Drive the technical execution of the Bank’s digital strategy by working closely with the CCIO, and all other relevant managers in the bank to support the strategic transition to excellence using Innovation, Technology & Product Development.
• Use modern techniques such as LEAN, Agile methodology, Automation, Business Process Reengineering to create more customer value without increasing resources.
• Be the centre of expertise for Innovation, Digital Transformation and Product Development activities in all domains of the bank (Client facing, Digital Strategy, Operations, Regulatory Implementations)
• Work closely with the Chief Change & Innovation Officer and EXCO members to execute the Innovation strategy in all facets of the bank.
• Support the project management and implementation of major change initiatives in Product & Customer Experience developments through guidance and resource enrichment.
• Through a diverse team of experts, drive and support all projects related to selection, acquisition, development and installation of major information and operations systems for the bank.
• Provide expert advice on evaluation, selection, implementation, and maintenance of information systems, ensuring appropriate investment in strategic and operational systems. Evaluate systems to measure their success

Qualifications, Experience And Competencies Required:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Business Computing, Commerce, Accounting, Business Statistics or another related field
• Adept at Financial Technology, Digital Transformation & Innovation
• A professional qualification in Technology (e.g., TOGAF), Banking (e.g., ACIB) or Project Management (e.g., Agile, Prince II) would be added advantage.
• At least 8 years’ work experience, 3 of which should be in a Senior Technology or Digital Transformation position at a large financial services institution.
• Demonstrated experience in driving innovation and change agendas in Financial Services
• Demonstrated ability to link and apply complex technologies to business strategies.
• A deep understanding of the use of novel technologies to drive Digital Transformation (e.g., Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Human-centred design, User experience, Blockchain technology etc.)
• Strong skills in business process analysis and redesign
• Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on Business engagement, Industry networking, Coaching and Mentorship.
• Strong understanding of Banking operations, FinTech, and global Product development trends
• Strong skills in managing technical teams and effective complex project execution.
• Demonstrated expertise in the Digital Banking, Financial services, Fintech and telecommunication industry in Uganda
