The post is an exciting opportunity for an A2 health adviser to join a dynamic team in BHC Kampala delivering on human development priorities in country. The jobholder will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of the UK’s objectives through the provision of health expertise across the mission. Specifically, he/she will be the lead adviser on the BHC Kampala’s family planning programme, working with partners to improve access to quality family planning services and build an enabling policy environment for Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). They will represent BHC Kampala in technical working groups in the health sector to support the delivery of UK priorities such as on Global Health Security. The Health Adviser will work closely with the head of the Human Development Team (HDT) and be part of a multi-disciplinary team across the mission including Advisers and Programme Managers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• As the lead adviser for the Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) programme, work with programme managers and the programme’s Senior Responsible Owner to ensure that the programme cycle management is conducted on time and to the required standard.
• Work closely with downstream partners on the SRHR programme to ensure delivery of results as set out in the programme log frame, manage programme risks, and ensure that the programme is delivering value for money.
• Provide technical leadership for the UK on COVID-19 and other disease outbreaks, regularly sharing advice/updates to guide internal decision making. Specifically, through appropriate technical pillars, provide quality inputs to support implementation of the country’s C-19 response strategy.
• Represent the UK in health technical working groups and other policy influencing forums to support attainment of key UK health priorities.
• Actively engage in the management of key centrally managed programmes, providing sound technical advice to implementing partners to increase effectiveness of UK central funds.
• Contribute to corporate objectives including responding to central requests for information and queries, ministerial correspondence and requirements for briefing. Also keep up to date with central developments in the human development space so that BHC Kampala can identify and utilize opportunities as they arise.
