Yako Bank (U) Limited was incorporated in 2010 and licensed as a Credit Institution by Bank of Uganda in
2020. In September 2015, Yako got its license to operate as a deposit taking institution and started operations
under the name Yako Microfinance (U) Limited. The Bank was licensed by Bank of Uganda to provide savings
and lending products to different clients.
In order to meet the needs of its growing customer base, the Bank is seeking to recruit dynamic, self-motivated,
result oriented professionals to fill the following position;

1. Internal Auditor
This position reports directly to the Board Audit Committee and it will be based at Head office
Role of the Job:
The Internal Auditor provides an objective and independent assurance on the effectiveness, efficiency and
reliability of the bank’s strategic, financial, accounting, business, legal operations. It also ensures that the
bank has a robust risk management system, internal controls comply with the laws, regulations, policies and
procedures. The position holder will also conduct follow up audits to monitor the adequacy of management
interventions
Key Result Areas:
• Generate audit charter, Internal Audit annual work plans, Internal Audit policies and procedure manuals.
• Managing and coordinating the Yako bank Audit Function and ensure there is effective communication
between the Audit and all other stakeholders.
• Preparing and submitting Internal Audit reports to Board Audit committee after discussion with
management.
• Evaluating and reviewing Financial, Accounting and Operational performance of the institution and all the
departments, functions and advice on improvements
• Carrying out special Audit assignments.
• Evaluating risk management processes, internal controls and recommend areas of improvements
• Review all institutional policies and advise on areas of improvements.
• Carrying out inspection, performance audits and value for money assessments.
• Obtain analyze, evaluate accounting documentation and reliability of the reports.
• Lead, guide, supervise, motivate, discipline, train, build capacity and manage performance of all staff in the
bank in regards to audit function.
• Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding the sector rules, regulations,
Required Competencies
• A first degree in business related discipline from a recognized institution.
• Full professional qualification in Accounting or Auditing from a recognized institution with at least -3-
years post-qualification experiences, preferably in a banking environment.
• Working knowledge of IFRS, Ugandan tax legislation, and Financial Institutions Act (FIA) 2004
• A minimum of 10 years cognate experience including 5 years supervisory experience.
• Proven working experience as Internal Auditor/ Audit manager
• Proven knowledge of auditing standards, procedures, laws, rules, regulations, and best practices.
• Proven knowledge of financial sector regulations and industry trends
• Extensive computer skills including MS Office, advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency, and Visio.
• High attention to detail, excellent analytical and planning skills and sound independent judgment
• Ability to work in a multidimensional/multicultural setting and good communication skills
