Job Description
The Investment Officer – Asset Finance will source for fundable opportunities aligned with the DFI’s High Impact Goals within the Asset Finance sector as well as manage relationships with internal and external clients in his/her portfolio of borrowers.
Accountability Statement
The Investment Officer – Asset Finance is accountable for the management of a portfolio of assigned customer relationships.
In executing this mandate, the role holder will develop, grow, and retain profitable client relationships engaged in Asset Finance whilst also ensuring the generation and conversion of business leads in line with the DFI’s Credit Risk Management Policy, the Environment & Social Risk Management Framework and in line with the DFI’s strategic focus.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Relationship Management
• Together with the Investment Manager – Asset Finance, manage all communication to customers and interactions with prospective customers within asset finance.
• Participate in customer outreach and sensitization interventions for clients and organized groups engaged in Asset Finance
• Provide business advisory services to customers and potential clients in the Asset Finance Sector
• Support the Investment Manager – Asset Finance in tracking and enforcing adherence to project covenants
Business Growth
• Generate new business by prospecting and sourcing for new fundable projects engaged in Asset Financing
• Review existing products for fit, and propose the necessary revisions or new products and innovations that viably address the needs of clients
Risk Management
• Participate in the initial investment screening and appraisal of proposals submitted to the DFI
• Participate in a multi-disciplinary credit appraisal team and provide expert advice on the asset finance
• Conduct field visits and obtain for the Asset Finance loan portfolio, obtain equipment specs/particulars for completion of Legal documentation
• Evaluate proposed machinery and equipment for funding
• Provide technical guidance in line with Asset finance policy to internal staff
• Provide support in regard to Equipment & Machine values, usable life as well as reviewing valuation report from external service providers.

Level of Authority
Advise the Investment Manager- Asset Finance on issues pertaining to the Asset Finance sector portfolio
Relationships
Internally: All Staff
Externally: Customers and prospective customers
Requirements
• A degree preferably in Mechanical Engineering, or related fields of study.
• Minimum of four (4) years in a similar role.
• Related experience in a financial institution/project finance, will be an added advantage.
