Job Description


Africa Medical and Behavioral Sciences Organization (AMBSO) www.ambso.org is a ‘Private Not for profit (PNFP) organization working in partnership with Uro Care Hospital, with its Head offices at Nansana, along Hoima Road and satellite offices in Hoima and Masaka. AMBSO conducts a wide range of activities of public health interest including clinical research, community-based health surveillance research; programs for health care service delivery and capacity building among health care workers and community health workers.
With funding from Gilead Sciences Inc. and in collaboration with MUJHU care limited, AMBSO will participate in a six year multi-site PURPOSE 1 study that is aimed at evaluating the efficacy of Lenacapavir (LEN) and Emitricitabine/Tenofovir Alafenamide (F/TAF) in preventing HIV transmission among adolescent girls and young women (AGYWs) at high risk of acquiring HIV infection. AMBSO is seeking for qualified, committed and reliable professionals to work at its Masaka and Hoima research sites. Applications are therefore invited from interested persons to fill the position listed above.

Location: Masaka Site and Head Office
Reporting to: Study Coordinator

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Maintain the AMBSO Laboratory work spaces according to the recommended standards.
• Take lead in laboratory supply chain planning, forecasting and monitoring.
• Work with the clinic staff to collect biological specimens.
• Carry out laboratory testing of samples.
• Oversee the proper transportation and storage of samples as recommended by the manufacturer.
• Ensuring proper preparation, packing and transfer of samples to destined referral Laboratories.
• Recording results of Laboratory evaluations.
• Keeping record of all Laboratory activities and results for study participants.
• Perform Laboratory quality control and assurance.
• Ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks.
• Maintain accountability logs for all the tests conducted.
• Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and any allocated resources.

Essential Qualifications/ requirements:
• A Minimum of a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized Institution.
• At least 2 years working experience in a research setting, with good knowledge of research ethics.
• Must be registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council.
• Possession of a valid practicing license.
• Up to date GLP/GCP/HSP training certificates.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
