Manager Life – Ref No: KRC/HR/2021/06

Role/Purpose
The selected candidate will report to the Regional Manager for the Uganda Regional office, based in Uganda, and the General Manager-Reinsurance based at the head office in Nairobi, Kenya. The main duties will include but will not be limited to;

Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop and ensure a timely and efficient implementation of the department’s strategy and Annual Work Plan and Budget.
• Solicit and receive business offers from existing and potential clients, assessing such offers and determining whether to accept them or not in line with the Corporation’s underwriting policy.
• Manage and carry out underwriting of life reassurance business.
• Oversee the administration of claims resulting from such transactions.
• Organize the department debt collection program and its implementation.
• Provide reports for actuarial valuation and ensure submission to the statutory bodies such as Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA).
• Carry out marketing activities to ensure growth of the business in line with the strategy.
• Provide management and the Board information on life insurance business matters.
• Prepare the department’s performance report and attend management meetings.
• Carry out training in the market as required.
• Plan for and develop staff in the department.
• Any other duties and responsibilities that will be assigned by management.

Person Specifications:
• Applicants should be holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Marketing, or related fields. The person(s) should be fully qualified insurance professionals with ACII or FCII qualifications or their equivalent and hold membership in recognized insurance professional bodies.
• Applicants should be fluent in spoken and written English language
• They should have six (6) years of relevant experience in reinsurance /insurance, two of which should have been at management level gained in a reputable organization.
