JOB TITLE: MANAGER OPERATIONAL COMPLIANCE SUPERVISION (1)
REPORTS TO: HEAD OF COMPLIANCE
ROLE PURPOSE: The role holder is responsible for providing leadership and support to the Bank’s Compliance Risk Management Function in a manner that shall ensure the institution’s business and conduct fully complies with all the relevant laws, regulations, standards, codes, rules, guidelines as well as the Banks internal policies and procedures. The role holder shall also ensure that the Bank is insulated against the risks of legal, regulatory sanctions, financial loss and loss to reputation.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ DELIVERABLES:
• Directly support the process of establishing and operationalizing an effective and efficient Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering /Terrorism Financing Risk Management Framework of the Bank in line with the relevant legal and regulatory regime. The holder of this office shall operationally run the Bank’s AML/CFT program.
• Direct support of initiatives and processes leading to the formulation and implementation of short, medium and long-term strategic plans for the Compliance department and Institution.
• Regularly updating line management of emerging and relevant changes in the business legal and regulatory environment and ensuring, all such changes are integrated into business processes.
• Support the Business through, effective management of key country regulatory relationships. This to involve ensuring all directives, instructions and requests from and as issued by regulatory bodies are addressed in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Carry out periodic and well-structured compliance assessments and checks in all units and functions of the Bank as well as agent locations to verify compliance with the Bank’s approved policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Preparation of periodic Compliance reports to line management properly detailing key Operational, AML & CFT matters in the Bank.
• Provide timely support and guidance to all units, functions and agents of the Bank to close all compliance lapses as identified and reported by the Regulator, Auditors (Internal and External) as well as lapses identified during the routine compliance assessments.
• Regularly and accurately reporting to the Head of Compliance, any emerging and material compliance lapses that may pose financial or reputational risks to the business.
• Execution of AML risk assessments for all new products, technologies, and locations/channels prior to launch.
• Ensure there is in place a well-structured training program for raising staff awareness about relevant issues relating to compliance with the Bank’s Policies and Procedures, anti-money laundering, counter financing of terrorism and sanctions.
• Providing leadership that supports the growth and development of all supervised staff.
• Acting as a contact point for compliance queries from staff.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• At least five years’ experience in a field(s) associated with risk management, compliance and/or program management.
• At least three years of managerial experience or an equivalent experience
• Experience in a regulated business.
• Ability to maintain highest professional standards to ensure the company is not in a position of risk.
• Ability to build supportive relationships with different groups across the company.
• Makes commercial business decisions and is resilient in the face of resistance.
• Credibility, professionalism, and confidence to implement best practice.
• Judgment to balance commercial and compliance risks to achieve positive outcomes.
• Ability to work with the business to achieve its goals within the relevant regulatory regimes.
• Ability to consistently demonstrate initiative and confidence in day-to-day dealings with Management.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING
• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, Commerce, Business Administration, social sciences or a course relevant to the role.
• Membership of a relevant professional body.
• A master’s degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
