MS is looking to recruit a suitable candidate for the position below;

– MEDICAL COORDINATOR ASSISTANT

Duty station: KAMPALA

Start of work 2025

PURPOSE:

Coordinating and applying Support Unit Kampala’s (SUKA) staff health policy and activities for Locally Hired Staff (LHS), International Mobile Staff (IMS) and training participants. Participating in the evaluation of hospital structures that can serve as reference structures for national and international staff. Participating in the medical monitoring of MS personnel and overseeing all medical expenses associated with various consultations and hospitalizations in collaboration with the line manager and organising health prevention talks.

Main responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Implement and monitor the staff health policy in collaboration with MSF

France and the support of the Staff Health Unit (SHU).

  • Facilitate access to medical follow up of Locally Hired Staff (LHS),
    International Medical Staff (IMS) and dependants (assessment, treatment, improvement, vaccination, etc.)
  • Organize and coordinate staff health promotion and education events and trainings
    Operational Safety & Health
  • First aid
  • Vaccination campaigns,

Mental health awareness

Infection Prevention and Safety Measures in the workspace etc.

  • Monitor and assess the health insurance service provider, make quarterly staff health utilization report.
  • Proper follow up of MS staff with Chronic conditions.
    Participate in the evaluation of hospital structures that can serve as reference structures for LHS and IMS as well as for training participants.
  • Ensure medical briefing and follow up on all SUKA new staff, visitors and training participants.
  • Surveillance of the overall medical expenses of the LHS in collaboration with the Medical coordinator. Give feedback to the LHS when these threaten to become excessive. Oversee all extraordinary medical expenses (not covered by insurance) in collaboration with the Medco, SHU, HR and finance.
  • Organize the administrative support around IMS’ medical care, as well as the inventory of individual medical information (reports, ongoing treatments) and documentation.
  • Ensure that the IMS and dependents health records are filled and sent to the SHU.
  • Coordinate with the Head of Mission and Medical coordinator in case of medical emergencies.
  • Facilitate admission to a suitable medical structure for emergencies during trainings.
  • Follow up with the pharmacist to ensure that first aid kits and emergency boxes are uptodate in all SUKA cars and premises.
  • Ensure staff files/database is confidential and updated in regard to vaccination, sick leaves, etc.
  • Follow up on SUKA staff sick leave according to the staff Health policy.
  • Support staff travelling abroad for mission/detachment or training to do required medical check-ups.

Education: Medical or paramedical diploma, Diploma in Clinical medicine and Community Health

Experience:

Training/experience in tropical medicine and/or public health at diploma level.

  • Good knowledge of Uganda medical landscape
  • Minimum 2 years experience.

Competences:

People Management, Commitment, Flexibility, Result and quality oriented, Teamwork and cooperation, Behavioral flexibility, commitment to MS Principles, stress management.

Language: Excellent command of English and French is an added advantage.
