Job Description


Reporting to the Program Manager, the Nutrition Specialist will provide subject matter expertise on nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive programming interventions in line with the project design and SC strategy. The jobholder will provide technical support and capacity building for staff and partners in the project area and other SC Country office areas of operation. Role involves working with existing government structures, districts and partners; analysis, interpretation, and communication of information to multiple audiences; capacity building; resource mobilization; working with others and building networks; taking initiative, working independently and proactively and working to high pressure and tight deadlines while at the same time working as an effective team member

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential:
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Agricultural Science, Food Science and Technology, Food Production Systems, post graduate training in project management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Public Health, Gender etc. will be of added advantage.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition & Dietetics from a recognized University, Msc. in Public Health Nutrition is an added advantage.
• TOT qualifications in IYCF/IYCF-E, IMAM, CMAM, Nutrition care groups, nutrition-sensitive programming and training in Nutrition in Emergencies would be an added advantage.
• Experience in implementing nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions within integrated programs of large NGOs of not less than three years.
• Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.
• Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
• Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
• Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.
• Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
• Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
• Excellent time management and planning capacity.
