Job Description


JOB ROLE/ PURPOSE:
Identify and analyze tax risk management needs to provide management with risk-focus areas

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Identify tax risk Management needs and sensitize staff in risk management to promote an enterprise-wide tax risk awareness culture
• Identify and populate the tax risk management matrix
• Carry out research and prepare materials for sensitizations and submit them to the supervisor for review.
• Organize engagements for tax risk management sensitizations.
• Sensitize staff on the tax risk management and prepare an engagement report after each sensitization.

2. Analyze the departmental risk registers for consolidation into the tax risk register.
• Obtain departmental tax risk registers
• Analyze and evaluate the identified risks to consolidate a draft tax risk register.
• Draft risk descriptors and proposed mitigation measures

Assess risk trends and draft the tax risk management report to support decision-making.
• Conduct both internal and external environmental scanning.
• Analyse and evaluate key tax risks identified.
• Draft the report and submit it to the supervisor every quarter.
• Conduct continuous monitoring of the implementation of risk treatments.

Qualifications
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Essential Requirements:
• An Honor’s Bachelor’s degree or its equivalency in Statistics, Economics, Commerce , Quantitative Economics or a related field from a recognized academic institution.
• At least two (02) years of experience experience in a statistics job in a reputable organization
• An impeccable record of integrity.

Desirable Requirements:
• Specialized Training in Data Analysis Tools such as STATA, Intermediate MS Excel, etc
• Experience in the application of Data Analysis Tools such as STATA, Intermediate Ms Excel etc
• Any additional qualification in Risk management is an added advantage.

Knowledge
• Knowledge of the Tax Laws of Uganda and their practice
• Knowledge of the Risk Management Policy
• URA Tax Administration Processes

SPECIAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
• Ability to apply Statistical Data Analysis packages.
• Ability to conduct Research, analyze and report findings
• Report writing
• Ability to analyze large volumes of data and pay attention to details.
• Good Interpersonal Skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
