Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- In charge of payroll. Preparation in liaison with HR & processing. Responsible for posting payroll related transactions and reconciliation of respective GL accounts. Review and ensure proper accounting and accuracy for all payroll lines. Ensure accuracy timely filing of statutory payroll deductions
- In charge of tax. Manage and maintain the company’s data base. Timely filing of returns and processing of payments in regards to the same. Possess strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations and advise on relevant changes that could affect the business. Responsible for posting of all tax related transactions and reconciliation of the respective GL accounts
- In charge of intercompany reconciliations and the local POC for any group related inquiries
- Hands on support during reporting procedures. Assists in preparation of cash flow forecasts, budgets, balance sheet analytics, among others
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant for the Jumia Payroll and Tax Accountant job should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance with a strong preference in the disciplines of Accounting and preferably Tax
- Full/part qualification in ACCA/CPA would be an added advantage
- Two to three years’ experience in accounting or audit function
- Working knowledge of the tax laws for Uganda
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications with a strong emphasis on Excel skills
- Demonstrates the ability to develop strong working relationships with team members, colleagues and customers
