In Uganda, we implement programmes in five thematic areas of Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Education, Child Poverty, Health and Nutrition in development and emergency contexts. Save the Children delivers programs in 30 districts in the North, Rwenzori, Northeastern and Central regions of Uganda, Currently, Save the Children has a staff complement of 450 persons. Save the Children International Uganda is looking to source for candidates to fill these positions within Kyangwali refugee settlement, Kikuube District-South Western Uganda.
Position: Primary Teachers
Number of Vacancies: 87
Location: Multiple Locations: Kinakyeitaka P/S, Maratatu P/S, Kasonga P/S and Nyamiganda P/S
Project: ECHO-INCLUDE
Duration: 6 Months.
Academic background, Experience & Person Specifications;
• Possess a minimum of Grade III Teaching certificate from a recognized Teacher training Institution in Uganda.
• A registered teacher with MoES possess an added advantage
• Both Ugandan nationals and refugees are eligible; female candidates are encouraged to apply;
• Recommendation letter from Area Local Council with telephone contact;
• Excellent verbal communications skills; service oriented;
• He/she must be able to speak English and other languages as needed within the specific context of the centre population/location (Kiswahili, Lingala, Kigegere, Runyoro, Alur, and other mother-tongue languages spoken by the refugee and host community children attending the school/centre). Preference will be given to individuals who speak one or more mother-tongue languages of refugee/host community children;
• Upholding the Uganda Teachers Code of Conduct;
• Upholding child-safeguarding policy at all times and ensuring child protection, child rights, and child participation is prioritized at all times
• Ability to work in challenging contexts and with learners from a variety of backgrounds
• Must have no history of violation of child protection
