Job Summary
The Program Assistant, Family Planning will provide administrative and technical support for selected Family Planning initiatives and special projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Work with the Reproductive Health Specialist to initiate and coordinate the planning of the specified project activities in liaison with other sectors within the project, and also ensure optimum utilization of project resources at minimum cost
2. Collect, tabulate and analyze on a regular basis field data on project activities carried out, and undertake impact assessment using participatory approach for all beneficiaries to determine the relevance and impact of the project assistance
3. Build the capacity of field teams including health workers, VHTs and Religious leaders through refresher and mentorship trainings in family planning.
4. Assist the RH specialist to prepare periodical work plans, report on sector activities and ensure that the Project’s objectives/outputs are achieved according to the work plans and within the contracted project period according to donor guidelines.
5. Assist in the development of Family Planning implementation tools and training curricula
Adapt the Engaging Men in Accountable Practices in changing gender norms related to contraception, with the support of the Family Planning.
6. Develop facilitator guides and implementation and training materials for activities to improve provider attitudes towards key Family planning issues during supportive supervision.
Keep track of meetings and manage the achievement of key deliverables for the project.
7. Work with the RH specialist to Submit reports to the relevant stakeholders
8. Perform any other official duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
1. Licensed Registered Midwife/ Nurse with their relevant professional bodies.
2. Bachelor’s In Social Sciences with good knowledge of reproductive Health/Family planning
3. Public Health Qualification will be added advantage
4. Flexible schedule;
5. At least 3 years of previous experience in Family planning programming including Fertility awareness Methods (FAM)
6.
Personal Attributes:
1. A high degree of integrity, Good analytical skills with a very good eye for details, Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, Self-organized and assertive characteristics, Good command of the English language.
2. Fluency in the local language will be an added advantage
