WITU is a Ugandan registered non profit whose mission is to empower young women and girls to become innovative technologists & entrepreneurs equally influencing Africa’s economy. We do this through offering tools, resources and opportunities that allow them to thrive.

Location: Based in Kampala with travel around Uganda.
About this role
The role of Programs Director is to plan, execute, and finalize programs according to strict quality standards, deadlines and within budget while maintaining high levels of safety and customer satisfaction. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and subcontractors in order to deliver programs according to plan and budget. The Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle in coordination with the Design Team. The Programs Director will also work closely with the Executive Team to ensure timely and quality completion of the programs delivery process and strategies for the acquisition of new work. .

Duties and Responsibilities
• Direct and manage program development from beginning to end.
• Define program/project scope and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with executive management.
• Develop program plans and schedule.
• Effectively communicate program expectations to team members in a timely and clear fashion.
• Communicate with customers on an ongoing basis.
• Set and continually manage program expectations with team members and customers.
• Identify and manage program dependencies and critical paths.
• Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
• Track program milestones and deliverables.
• Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations.
• Issue status reports to the program/project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
• Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
• Define program/project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project life cycle.
• Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise program/project team members and subcontractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
• Build, develop, and grow business relationships vital to the success of the program/project.
• Conduct program “lessons learned” meetings and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful program elements.
• Develop best practices and tools for program execution and management.
• Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of programs/projects.
• Ensure that all programs/projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
• Developing program/project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility .
• Ensure resource availability and allocation.
• Develop a detailed project plan to track progress.
• Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
• Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.
• Report and escalate to management as needed.
• Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.
• Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
• Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

• Mentor and motivate teams to achieve productivity and engagement
• Report on operational performance and suggest improvements
