Job Description

PATH with funding from Presidential Malaria Initiatives (PMI) led by USAID conducted a digital community health profile for Uganda. In the country profile a number of recommendations were made focusing on the users, governance and system in the country to support digitalization efforts. As a follow on, PATH is launching a new one – year initiative to support MoH to coordinate the efforts within the country to implement the recommended actions, in alignment with selected priorities. PATH will work closely with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and partners to develop a comprehensive national operationalization plan, monitoring & evaluation and ensure the national plan is costed.
PATH is recruiting a Project Coordinator to manage the process of developing the national plan including the Monitoring and evaluation and costing of the plan. The project coordinator will support the Uganda and global teams to ensure work plan activities are executed on time and aligned with budget, applying project management tools and techniques. The coordinator will report to the Country Director.
Responsibilities:
• Support the Uganda Ministry of Health to convene meeting of relevant partners and agencies involved in digital health initiatives.
• Lead collaborative development of a comprehensive national implementation plan for digitalization of community initiatives and work with the responsible person at MoH to secure buy-in and support for the plan across partners
• Manage the partners meetings in close collaboration with MoH responsible person on an ongoing basis, with support from the Program Assistant, including preparing meeting agendas and minutes, tracking follow-up, and preparing regular progress reports for the MOH, donors, and task force
• Work closely with MoH and the PATH team to identify and address technical challenges during the development process of the national plan, including facilitating technical support for key activities (e.g., facilitating workshops and feedback meetings, monitoring)
• Assist the MoH responsible Divisions to integrate digital health into national systems, including health monitoring and information systems, as well as relevant policies
• Participate in overall project and team planning activities, working closely with the PATH HQ and regional staff to coordinate relationship-building with governmental and non-governmental partners
• Manage tasks related to tracking deliverables, coordinating efforts, and identifying and communicating risks internally and externally.
• Develop and maintain high-performing teams. Includes leading team meetings, ensuring focused agendas and clear outcomes are captured succinctly (e.g., weekly global team calls, monthly donor calls, partner or district meetings).
• Work closely with functional resource managers to ensure appropriate allocation of resources to the project.
• Coordinating and contributing to the development of donor reports, including developing slides and other outputs for regular donor engagements, annual reporting, and in response to donor requests.
• As assigned, coordinating and contributing to the development of new grant proposals, or the revision of existing proposals.
• Contribute to improvement of project and portfolio management systems.
Required Experience
• Minimum of 4-6 years’ experience and demonstrated skills in project management and team management.
• Minimum three years of experience working in international development, preferably in the health in Uganda; or documented equivalent experience in related field.
• Experience working in Malaria control (ICCM) and Digital health is an added advantage
• Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health informatics or equivalent in relevant discipline.
• Knowledge of project management, project reporting and risk management tools. Certification in project management preferred.
• Previous experience working in cross-functional teams (or a matrixed organizational structure) and working closely with MoH at both national and subnational
• Strong communication skills, capacity to understand situations and project scenario and translate effectively into communication collaterals for stakeholders and partners.
• Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively independently and in a team.
• Excellent command over spoken and written English
• Advanced computer skills, including MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and specific project management applications (e.g., MS Project, and SharePoint).
• Well-organized and attention to details with good follow-through skills.
• Excellent negotiation skills.
Candidates must have legal authorization to work in Uganda.
