Job Description


Our client, the largest franchisee of French giant group CARREFOUR owned and operated by MAJID AL FUTTAIM in Uganda is looking for a Project Manager. The middle East based group is currently operating more than 375 Carrefour Stores in 17 countries with more than 37000 employees
Role Purpose
The Project Manager is responsible for managing the overall project execution for projects assigned. The role holder is also responsible for project planning, monitoring, execution, control and closure.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Project Planning
• Monitor and direct the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards where applicable for the assigned project
• Comply with all applicable local regulations
• Create project plans and revise them as appropriate to meet organizational changing needs and requirements
• Monitor and stay abreast of technological, legal and operational changes that affect the activities and work processes of the project and make recommendations for improvements and highlight innovations and requirement of bringing up initiatives from within
• Assist in analysing short- and long-term resource needs and adjust staffing and resources
• Liaise with key stakeholders to assure availability of projects assessment and charters 2. Project Monitoring
• Maintain a cost control system throughout the project, providing regular financial updates to the management
• Develop governance framework to assure the progress of long term projects
• Review information related to operational projects and preparation of reports and dashboards on progress, achievements and project performance metrics
• Monitor progress and minimize actual and potential delays to the project
• Creating ad-hoc reports and presentations for management periodically and projects progress
• Highlight risks associated with potential delays or deviations from milestones, and propose corrective actions towards achieving goals

3. Project Delivery
• Ensure that appropriate contracts and other documents are prepared and executed
• Certify that the project quality meets the requirements of the MAF Retail • Confirm that interim and final reports are prepared and regular as per the agreed project guidelines
• Manage the interaction with internal departments
• Liaise with vendors and related third parties that may be involved with the project delivery
• Identify and manage key project risks and oversee the resolution
• Taking ownership of projects in collaborations with other key stakeholders 4. Project Closure
• Conclude final account negotiations with all parties
• Ensure lessons learnt workshops and documentation are prepared and made available for the benefit of future projects

5. Human Capital Responsibilities
• Assist with the implementation of the performance management process by setting objectives, monitoring performance, and provide constructive feedback and provide inputs to senior management
• Provide mentorship for the purpose of developing a continuous talent pipeline for key roles
• Provide inputs on training needs and coordinate with the HC department to ensure facilitation of training requirements
• Develop and implement on the job-training for the team
• Provide inputs for the development of annual manpower plan
• Ensure the implementation of MAF Retail’s corporate policies and relevant procedures Minimum Qualifications/education
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or relevant to the role
• Master’s degree in in Business Administration is preferred
• PMP is preferred
• Minimum 6 years in in operations or project management
• 2+ years in the retail business or closely related industry
