Project Manager – Gender, Menstrual Health Management and Sexual Reproductive Health Welthungerhilfe Project Office – Katakwi: with travels to Karamoja & Kampala:
Start date: November 15, 2021
Objective of the position:
Contribute to further improving the integration of gender transformative approaches and gender mainstreaming in the project areas.
Tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
• Management of assigned partner implemented project in the districts of Moroto, Napak, Katakwi and Amuria in line with BMZ donor and Welthungerhilfe rules and standards for implementation of projects
• Coordinates activities with partner organizations, and Welthungerhilfe programs in Teso, Karamoja and Country Office
• Responsible for Building Capacity of national partner organizations in Gender Transformative Approaches, Menstrual Health Management, the Graduation Approach, Advocacy, Participatory Monitoring Tools and Approaches, Finance and Administration etc.
• Manage the project budget for WHH and support the national partner organizations with their budget responsibilities, and ensure oversight of all spending
• Manages staff according to Welthungerhilfe leadership principles, staff policies and Welthungerhilfe strategy
• Represents Welthungerhilfe in gender and advocacy networks and expands the organization’s exchange with civil society, government and development partners within Gender, SRHR and MHM forums
• Contributes to building capacity of Welthungerhilfe staff on gender transformative approaches
Required qualifications, competencies, and experience
Qualifications & Experience
• BSc / MSc in Gender Studies, Social Sciences or Project Management
• Strong project management capacity in the context of Gender Transformation, PSEAH, SRHR, Economic strengthening and MHM (planning, coordination, staffing, steering and monitoring)
• Proven experience as Head of Project for at least 3 years in a project of a similar scale and complexity
• Proven experience in project implementation focusing on Gender, Advocacy, Livelihoods and MHM, preferably with international organizations for at least 5 years
• Proven knowledge on gender transformative approaches and men and boys’ engagement in gender interventions
• Proven knowledge on the Ugandan policy context regarding gender equality, MHM, SRHR and sexuality education
• Proven experience in working with national partner organizations
• Experience in the implementation of the Graduation Approach is an asset
Competencies
• Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
• Strong working knowledge in English (spoken and written)
• Capacity to multitask and coordinate activities under pressure in urban and rural areas respectively
• Knowledge of MEAL, nutrition and agriculture is an added advantage
