Job Description
The primary role of this position is to provide efficient, effective and timely programmatic, administrative and logistical support to all AWF’s work in the Kidepo Valley area. This position reports to Program Manager
Responsibilities
• Head the Kidepo Program site team in attainment of all AWF’s work in the Kidepo Valley including oversight on Classroom Africa objectives for Kidepo
• Liaise with UWA (Kidepo Valley National Park) in the implementation of all in-park activities (tourism, monitoring, law enforcement etc.)
• Develop and strengthen natural resource management in Kidepo and designated projects and ensure these plans are implemented
• Ensure the views and interests of UWA (Kidepo Valley National Park), Local Government and Communities are brought into the daily work and considerations of AWF programs in Kidepo.
• Act as the key liaison between the ongoing Classroom Africa construction projects at Kidepo Primary School and Sarachom Primary School and the local communities; provide support and guidance where required.
• Oversee the administration of the field office and all AWF assets at the Kidepo office.
• Support and ensure adherence to established, organizational reporting mechanisms.
• Provide technical support as needed for Classroom Africa program development, implementation and budgeting.
• Collate, monitor and report on the performance and status of all AWF Programs in Kidepo
• Supervise AWF staff based in Kidepo.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements
• A university degree in Development work, Project Management, Business and/or Natural resource management
• A minimum of 5 years work experience consistent with the types of duties outlined above
• Demonstrated experience in conservation program work
• Fluency in Karamojong is Mandatory
• Practical experience of NRM and land use planning, and of protected area management and community conservation preferred
• Excellent writing skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Good organizational aptitude
• Ability to work professionally and efficiently and to balance numerous projects
• Possesses the flexibility to assess and react appropriately to changing circumstances
• Ability to pay attention to detail
• Ability to meet strict deadlines
