Job Description


Reports To: Sales & Distribution Director
Supervises: Direct : Indirect:
The Operations Manager is responsible for identifying potential areas of improvement within FSD Uganda operations, aiming to ensure that the FSD Uganda performs to its best potential against its operational goals. He/she acts as critical support to the COO in the pursuit of excellence in project management; Procurement management, risk management, HR management, and management of FSDU Administrative function. The Operations Manager will support in the development and implementation of systems, procedures, and tools across all support functions that will empower the FSD Uganda team to achieve project goals effectively and in an efficient manner. S/he will help lead the incorporation of a ‘best practice’ culture within the organisation and ensure that services are delivered following service level agreements, on time, and to budget.
Job Purpose Responsible for conceiving, developing and implementing the company’s Regional strategy to deliver on customer additions and revenue numbers, maximized revenue growth of all company products and services. Manage and support Airtel distributors and staff with in the designated region by coordinating all planned segments and interdepartmental activities in order to grow market share and enhance achievement of Airtel’ s overall business objectives for the region

Responsibilities /Key Deliverables
Design, implement and monitor Regional AOP/ budgets in line with company strategy
• Participate and contribute to the bottom -up AOP process
• Track Opex lines and take actions to keep on budget
• Constantly review and monitor opco P&L in relation to Zone-specific contribution
• Ensure interdepartmental synergies are realized to achieve on the Zonal P & L
• Grow company SOGA, RMS and CMS within the Region as shall be projected by the AOP numbers
Develop sales strategies to address and grow CMS (Customer Market Share), SOGA (Share of Gross Add) and RMS Revenue Market Share.
• Utilize market research and effective competitor analysis to develop and implement sales plan/strategies that will give Airtel an edge over completion
• Develop strategies to drive site wise performance on gross adds, E-recharge and Airtel Money within the Region.
• Develop and implement sales strategy for Corporate ,postpaid, SME and Data sales
• Management / coordination of Regional Marcom activities
Act as a consultant on planned Marketing campaigns within the region
• Track & evaluate campaign effectiveness within the Region
• Monitor the Retail Survey Index (Communication, Visibility & noticeability)
• Ensure Brand visibility within the Region (Visibility and deployment of Glow signage, Hoardings, Wall painting, panels, etc.)
Input into Area -specific needs for POS materials
Customization messaging/communication to Regional realities

Network Management
• Approve and sign off new sites/ capacity sites within the Region
• Tracking of Regional Network KPIs on service delivery and site productivity
• Network Availability
• Outage Root-cause tracking (Internal & Partner)
• LUS reduction
• Customer Complaints
• Come up with strategies to address all Low revenue sites in the region and ensure they optimally deliver as required by the business
Manage/coordinate company initiatives / projects within the region
• Participate in the identification of Schools within the Region as per CSR Strategy
• Manage and build relationships with selected CSR School in the Region
• Ensure staff participation in PR/CSR driven initiatives within the Region
Drive desired customer experience in al Airtel Experience centres/ touch points in the Region
• Align all Regional teams in the Airtel service and experience centers to deliver great customer experience
• Ensure the look & feel of all Airtel shops / centers are up to the required standards in the zones and stock/ offer all products of the business
• Ensure all customer queries are resolved to the satisfaction of the customers
Manage, develop and motivate staff:
• Participate in the recruitment and selection of Regional staff
• Ensure work place readiness for the Team
• Train and coach staff to ensure development
• Monitor Performance against targets and put in place remedial measures where required
• Manage staff discipline

Person Specification
Education & Training
• Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, or equivalent training in business or sales management
• Masters /post graduate qualification in business management is added advantage

Skills & Experience
• 8-10 proven successful years of sales with a combination of direct and indirect (distributors) market approach in the Telecommunications Industry or FMCG environment

Competencies
• Solid knowledge of channel, indirect sales and direct sales
• Strong Business acumen
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
• Experience of building and development of channel.
• Leadership and people management skills Knowledge of English and/or French
