Job Description
Makerere University College of Health Sciences, School of Public Health has received funding from WHO through MoH to undertake a National Harmonized SARA Study for the ‘Harmonized Health Facility Assessment’ (HHFA) in Uganda’s Health Sector-2021.
The overall goal of HHFA is to generate evidence-based data on health service delivery and quality to guide efforts for improving service delivery, policy development and practice. The specific objectives are to establish nationwide service availability and readiness levels within Uganda’s health sector to determine nationwide quality of health care and safety within Uganda’s health sector and to provide strategic information for guiding sustainable improvement in health service delivery and quality MAKSPH seeks to recruit highly experienced and competent Research Assistants (RAs) and Field Supervisors to support the implementation of the study.
Job Title: Research Assistants (60)
Qualifications and Experience
• At least a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution with a medical background (medical doctor, pharmacy, nurse, midwife, laboratory technology)
• At least 2 years’ experience in Qualitative and Quantitative Data Collection.
• Prior knowledge and experience in harmonized health facility assessment (HHFA)
• Prior knowledge and experience with Service Availability and Readiness Assessment (SARA)
• Experience in Electronic Data Collection using software like CSpro and STATA.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and stringent guidelines
Duties:
• Conduct sampling, both purposive sampling and stratified equal probability systematic sampling techniques
• Explaining the need for the study to the respondents and obtain their consent to take part in it; then administer questions/ interviews in-person.
• Record accurate and thorough answers using appropriate electronic devices.
• Ensure confidentiality of all collected data.
• Exercised courtesy and professionalism to all respondents.
• Keep good records of the interviews and surveys conducted.
• Review collected data obtained from interviews/ surveys for completeness and accuracy, before submission.
• Meet regularly with the Supervisor to turn in the survey results/ interview data on an ongoing basis.
• Notify management incase an electronic device or other study equipment is missing or is not
• Attend all trainings and participate in all preparatory activities prior to data collection.
