Job Description
The Senior AML Supervisor will report to the Head of Compliance and will be based at Head office. He/she will be responsible for conducting compliance tests on various departments in Pride, report findings, provide guidance and training to staff, align policies and procedures to changes in the regulatory landscape to improve level of compliance to the Anti Money Laundering Act.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Develop the Know Your Customer (KYC) practices and put in place internal reporting procedures.
- Develop procedures relating to Conducting Customer Due Diligence (CDD) on a risk based approach to mitigate money laundering and terrorist financing risks.
- Assist management to comply with their regulatory reporting requirements in terms of timeliness and completeness.
- Responsible for the maintenance of suspicious transactions and large cash transactions in a timely manner.
- Responsible for timely reporting of suspicious transactions and large cash transactions to the Financial Intelligence Authority in accordance with the law.
- Identify and inform Management of any changes to legislation and other regulatory requirements relating to AML/CTF and other regulatory requirements.
- Improve and maintain Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Terrorist Financing (CTF) policies and procedures.
- Implement the annual AML plan and perform the relevant quality assurance checks to ensure adherence and conduct due diligence reviews.
- Develop tools to monitor, analyze, and report suspicious activity.
- Address issues relating to transaction monitoring, filtering, and sanctions.
- Provide oversight to the operational team, which acts as the first line monitors and investigations of suspicious activity.
- Enforce the reporting obligations of the Bank in relation to AML and CTF.
- Coordinate KYC and AML information requirements from key stakeholders such as correspondent banks.
- Establish and continuously improve a consistent operating framework for the identification, management, monitoring and reporting of Compliance risks and issues.
- Issues with Risk Management and Internal Audit on risk related issues, as well as non-compliance with internal policies, legislation, rules and regulations.
- Monitor non-compliance and escalate any issues where non-compliance is not addressed.
- Develop AML guidance materials, training resources, and controls and ensure an ongoing staff training program on money laundering for staff.
- Analysis of large sets of data to identify patterns and trends indicative of suspicious activities or money laundering risks.
- Ensure implementation of Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures, customer identification programs, and enhanced due diligence (EDD) processes for high-risk customers.
Minimum academic qualifications, Experience & competence
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Statistics, Commerce, Business Administration or related field.
- 4 years experience in AML Compliance or Financial Crime related roles.
- Should possess analytical skills, writing and reporting skills, people management and should be able to understand data and generate solutions.
- Should possess 2 principal passes at A’ level and credits/pass in Mathematics and English at O’ level.
- Should not be more than 45 years of age.
- A certification for Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRMP), or Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS) will be an added advantage.
