Independent Evaluation & Research Cell (IERC) The IERC conducts research and evaluation, nationally representative surveys, and other process documentation on multi-sectoral topics in the diverse contexts in Africa and Asia. With technical supervision from the Brac Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) under Brac University, IERC generates knowledge for policy actors on the relevance, impact, and sustainability of BRAC programs and beyond. IERC works with development and academic partners to evaluate approaches to solving development problems, to communicate what works and does not work in scale

Job Title: Senior Research Associate (03 Positions) Location: Country Office – Nsambya

Core Roles and Responsibilities
1. Design research (both qualitative and quantitative), write project proposals, development research protocols, and secure Institutional review board (IRB) formalities.
2. Conduct data processing, data analysis & data presentation independently.
3. Write quality research reports for donor reporting, external communication & peer-reviewed publications
4. Lead implementation of research projects with & without analytic supports from Pls
5. Make publication and policy briefs for external audience and advocacy
6. Manage multiple research projects with due action plans and budget tracking
7. Monitor the progress of the study to ensure protocol compliance with and adherence to the project plan.
8. Identify, evaluate and rectify problems including working with the internal and external team members to ensure efficient research management.
9. Lead and facilitate grant and finance management of the projects
10. Presentation of the research at appropriate local, regional, national and international meetings & conferences
11. Work hand in hand with data manager to ensure quality data & maintain secured database & the consent forms
12. Train, mentor, and manage field supervisors and enumerators with supportive supervision and contributing with best practices for IERC research protocols.
13. Coordinate with donor, research and programme partners in planning, budgeting, implementing, data analysis and reporting of study results

Safe guarding roles.
Ensuring the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the program’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

Required Qualifications and Skills
• Master’s Degree in Economics, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health, Statistics or any other related subject.
• Bachelor degree can be considered only when at least 3 years of relevant experience is demonstrated.
• Certificate in research methodology – study designs, data analysis is added advantage.
• Successful candidate should also have interest in mixed methods of research.
• Experienced and skilled in data analysis and interpretation of data, very good knowledge on at least one of the packages – STATA, SPSS, R, NVivo or Atlas.Ti.
• Knowledge of digital data management like ODK/SurveyCTO, recorders, is added advantage.
• Capacity to manage the technical, logistical aspects of several research projects, and ability to write research proposals and reports.
