Job Description


Pride Microfinance Limited (MDI) is a Microfinance Deposit- taking Institution regulated and supervised by Bank of Uganda (BoU) under the MDI Act, 2003 and MDI Regulations, 2004 Pride offers innovative financial solutions to largely people at the base of the economic pyramid and serves its customers through 42 networked branches and 5 contact offices with a purpose is to transform lives responsibly. Pride is an equal opportunity employer, looking for competent and experienced individuals to fill the following vacancies;

1. RECOVERY OFFICER
The Debt collection officer reports to the Debt collection supervisor and is responsible for recovery of bad/written off loans extended in
accordance with Pride’s policies and procedures and the laws of Uganda.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Responsible for the recovery of bad/written off loans by surveying and investigating the clients’ files for cases of defaulting and visiting defaulting clients. 2.
• Deliver recall letters and ensure follow up.
• Prepare and deliver demand letters to defaulters and follow up on payments. (Check and scrutinize all files to ensure compliance with documentation and ensure they have been received by the client)
• Prepare and submit weekly and monthly progress reports.
• Train staff on debt recovery skills.
• Liaise with law enforcement on recovery
• Peruse clients’ files to establish type and location of security.
• Visit locations to establish the availability of property for attachment.
• Contact law enforcement for purposes of attachment in line with bank policy.
• Place and distribute notices of sale.
• Identify the highest bidder and negotiate terms for the sale of attached assets in line with bank policy.
• Arrange with the respective branch for consent to sale and requisition of the sale agreement in line with bank policy.
• Facilitate the prosecution of loan defaulters by investigating cases of defaulting.
• Report matters of criminal nature to the police in line with bank policy.
Minimum Academic Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline
• Candidates should also possess 2 principle passes at A’ Level and credit passes in English and Mathematics at O’ Level.
• The Candidate should possess two years’ experience in a similar role in a supervised financial institution

• Good track record in credit management and recovery business in a financial institution.
• Should be willing to work in any part of the country.
• Should not be more than 35 years of age.
2. BRANCH CREDIT ADMINISTRATOR
The Branch Credit Administrator will report to the Branch Manager and is responsible for reviewing credit proposals, appraise, disburse loans and maintain portfolio quality in line with the bank’s policies and procedures.
Specific Responsibilities include: –
• Conduct field visits and carry out the verification of loans to improve branch portfolio quality.
• Lead and direct the credit committee meetings to achieve efficiency in the operation of the credit section.
• Plan, review, and monitor the implementation of guidelines for portfolio quality control and submit periodic compliance reports in line with
the work plan and lending policy.
• Responsible for relationship management with clients and potential clients to enhance acquisition, retention, and growth.
• Provide safe custody for the loan securities and files in line with bank policy and procedures in place.
• Review credit proposals, appraise and disburse loans for the branch in accordance with the credit policy & the risk management policy.
• Review the performance of different loan products and make recommendations.
• Verify and establish authenticity and completeness of loan documentation in line with the credit policy and defined authorization limits.
• Proactively identify and assess the risks faced by the Branch and maintain an effective system of credit controls to minimize exposure.
• Liaise with the debt recovery team to support the process of recovery of non – performing loans

Ensuring portfolio quality for the branch and supporting recovery for non-performing loans
Minimum Academic Qualifications and Experience:
• A bachelor’s degree in any discipline
• 2 Principal passes at A’ Level
• Credit and/or pass in English and Mathematics at O’ level.
• 3 years’ experience in Banking Operations.
• Must be a person of impeccable integrity.
• Should not be more than 40 years of age
3. RELATIONSHIP OFFICER – AGRIBUSINESS
The Relationship Officer – Agribusiness reports to the Branch Manager through the Relationship Manager and is responsible for recruiting and nurturing new Agribusiness deals, grow the existing relationships, monitor and maintain the Bank’s Business portfolio within manageable risk spheres to enhance profitability.
Specific responsibilities include: –
• To recruit, nature and sustain new Agribusiness relationships that have a potential to grow and provide superior returns and contribute towards assets and liabilities growth as per set targets.
• Active pipeline management with the objective of meeting agreed personal growth objectives across all product ranges and clients’ segments.
• Superior management of the client portfolio to grow and retain existing business, whilst continuously reviewing existing client wallets with an eye to optimizing the Bank’s revenue through selling/promoting appropriate productnbundles.
• Actively undertake the negotiation and structuring of transactions in the prospective and closing stages with the aim of attaining value for the client, while protecting the business interests of the Bank
• Work together with other stakeholders on the timely and efficient preparation of high-quality credit proposals, and drive turn-around time well within the Bank’s objectives.
• Vigilant arrears management in line with the Bank’s policies to spot early attention areas –

the objective is to maintain the loan portfolio’s NPA percentage (well) within agreed parameters.
• Constantly explore the enhancement of the Bank’s brand name so that the Bank holds out to the target markets as one of the best in the
corporate field in terms of service, innovation, and customer awareness/responsiveness
• Develop and maintain well documented reports/visits/contracts with all the Bank’s relationships, management, and other units
Minimum Academic Qualifications and Person Specifications
• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in agriculture or any related discipline.
• 2 Principal passes at A’ Level
• Credit and/or Pass in English and Mathematics at O’ level.
• The candidate must be able and willing to ride a motorcycle.
• Should be willing to work in any part of the country where Pride operates.
• Should be ready to challenge themselves to continuously deliver exceptional performance.
• Should be honest, trustworthy and have a high degree of integrity.
• Should not be more than 40 years of age.
4. TELLERS:
The Teller reports to the Branch Operations Manager and is responsible for handling and posting all across-the-counter cash transactions on
behalf of Pride in accordance with the set policies and procedures.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Take deposits and pay customers across the counter and ensure that all deposit and withdrawal transactions are handled with accuracy and according to laid down policies and procedures.
• Buy and sell foreign currency to the customers at the approved rates
• Scrutinize the details of each transaction to ensure that the Company is protected against fraudsters and money laundering.
• Exercise prudence and safeguard cash and other valuable items/instruments such as cheques, controlled stationery, stamps etc, in his/her custody while on duty.

• Promptly post all transactions made in a day and account for and reconcile cash at the end of the day and
• Keep records and transaction documents (filling of documents).
5. CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE OFFICERS
The Customer Experience Officers reports to the Branch Operations Manager and is responsible for responding to clients’ inquiries and complaints.
The incumbent will also be required to guide the clients of Pride to select the most suitable products for them and open new accounts and handle account-related issues.
Specific responsibilities include: –
• Cross sells company products to clients and always enhance / protect the reputation of the company.
• Customer service data collection and analysis.
• Handle customer complaints.
• Generating Sales Leads.
• Opening Customer accounts.
• Carry out customer satisfaction surveys/market surveys

6. RELATIONSHIP OFFICER – SALARIED CUSTOMERS
The Relationship Officer – Salaried Customers reports to the Branch Manager through the Relationship Manager and is responsible for
recruiting and nurturing new salary business deals, grow the existing relationships, monitor and maintain the Bank’s Business portfolio within manageable risk spheres to enhance profitability.
Specific responsibilities include: –
o To recruit, nature and sustain new salary relationships that have a potential to grow and provide superior returns and contribute towards
assets and liabilities growth as per set targets.
o Active pipeline management with the objective of meeting agreed PRIDE personal business growth objectives across all product ranges and
clients’ segments.
o Superior management of the client portfolio to grow and retain existing business, whilst continuously reviewing existing client wallets
with an eye to optimizing the Bank’s revenue through selling/promoting appropriate product bundles.

o Actively undertake the negotiation and structuring of transactions in the prospective and closing stages with the aim of attaining value for the client, while protecting the business interests of the Bank
o Work hand-in-hand with other stakeholders on the timely and efficient preparation of high- quality credit proposals, and drive turn-around time well within the Bank’s objectives.

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in any Discipline
• Candidates should also possess 2 principle passes at A’ Level and credit passes in English and Mathematics at O’ Level.
• Should be willing to work in any part of the country.
• Should be fluent in commonly used local languages.
• Should have customer awareness and emotional intelligence skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Should have good verbal and written communication skills
• Should not be more than 35 years of age.
