Job Description
Our client is an NGO seeking for a very dynamic and self-driven professional to join its team in the role of Transport & Logistics Officer.
Reporting to: Program Administrator
Key responsibilities:
• Ensures that the organizations vehicles are properly maintained in order to effectively carry out program activities
• Liaises with program personnel and ensure that transport is available for planned and approved program activities in the district
• Receives vehicle repairs reports submitted by the drivers and reports to the Program Administrator if action is required
• Verifies that work performed on the vehicles by the garage are satisfactory and reports to Program Administrator before payment is effected
• Ensure that vehicle logbooks are properly maintained and periodically reconciled with vehicle fuel consumption
• Supervises all the drivers (permanent and temporary)
• Collects price quotations from vendors for procurement decision
• Assists in the customs clearing of vehicles and motorcycles
• Identifies potential vendors (garages) for vehicle service and parts
• Handle inventory of vehicle related and field supplies
• Arrange transportation for field supplies
• Liaises with Insurance Companies and ensure that all the organizational vehicles and motorcycles are annually assessed and insured as per the organizations policy
• Provide timely reports on any accidents to the insurance companies and follows up on claims
• Liaise with Program Administration to ensure proper arrangement of international visitors and pickups from the airport or any other entry point
• Participates in budget planning for the logistics and transport
• Liaises with all other organization’s staff to ensure that the organization’s objectives and mission are achieved
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Working knowledge of the QHSE procedures
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Transport and Logistics operations systems in a supervisory role
• Knowledge of Vehicle Management Systems, On Board Computers and systems for vehicle tracking, Motor vehicle operations, Operating tools, Supervisory Control
• Excellent understanding of regional and Uganda Road Safety requirements and regulations, Road safety acts, Uganda traffic regulations.
• Good command of English knowledge and reporting including MS access, word, project, excel.
• Multicultural awareness, environmental awareness, organization, adaptability and anticipation skills
• Good command of English both oral and written.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite
• Knowledge and experience with Journey Management Plan procedures
