Job Description
Support the Finance Department, Chief Accountant and Management Team by completing accounting tasks. Assist in preparing budgets, financial and management reports and overseeing the work of Assistant Accountants. He/she reports to and plays an advisory role to the Chief accountant.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
• Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
• Prepare aging of receivables and payables.
• Supervise preparation of bank reconciliation statements.
• Verify bank deposits and payments.
• Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
• Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
• Plan, assign and review other accounts staff’s work.
• Guides assistant accountants and clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions. Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
• Secures financial information by completing database backups.
• Verify, allocate, post and reconcile transactions. Verifying balances in account books and rectifying discrepancies.
• Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results. Analyze financial information and summarise financial status.
• Managing day-to-day transactions.
• Verify business expenses before disbursing payments and ensure appropriate coding of expense ledgers.
• Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
• Provide input into department’s goal setting process.
• Participate in internal and external audits.
• Support month-end and year-end close process.
• Liaise with the Chief Accountant and/or Manager on work status and client issues that arise.
• Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
• Tax filing.
• Manage periodical stock taking; month end and year end.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Person’s specifications:
Academic qualifications and experience Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration majoring in accounting or Bachelor’ degree in Accounting or Finance. Certified Public Accountant certification, preferably level 3. A minimum 3-5 years’ experience in accounting/finance.
