Job Description


Responsible for putting in place and rolling out Alternative Distribution channels (ADC), Supervises the Regional Service Centre Managers as well as recruitment of competent, motivated team of the agents networks through the Units that are able to aggressively and successfully promote Britam business and achieve set performance targets.

Key Responsibilities:
• Ensuring that the Financial Advisors in the ADC centres and the Regional and Satellite offices meet their monthly targets.
• Appraising performance of Financial Advisors and the Regional and Satellite Office Managers on a weekly basis.
• Driving Channel growth of the Alternative distribution channels in line with the Company Procedure.
• Overseeing the recruitment & deployment of the Regional & Satellite Managers, financial advisors. Each of the distribution networks must be well trained and must meet the minimum Company performance standards.
• In liaison with the Business Development Manager ensure that all Regional Managers & Satellite Managers and Financial Advisors are regularly and properly trained to achieve Company objectives.
• Ensure that the Regional & Satellite Managers, Financial Advisors are appropriately qualified as per IRA requirements. This includes licenses and all other areas of compliance.
• Ensure full compliance with Company policies and procedures in the distribution networks. This means that any Audit violation of the procedures is strictly and speedily handled and appropriate action taken.
• Conceptualize structure and execute initiatives to develop the business in the current and new markets including product development.
• Develop strong systems to prevent, detect and mitigate fraud not limited to premium embezzlement, misrepresentation, collusion with clients to inflate claim amount, system manipulation in the distribution networks.
• Gather marketing intelligence statistics including competition, new products and Company’s image to facilitate development of strategies to give the company a competitive advantage;
• Timely reporting for the ADC channel.
• Effective team leadership for the ADC
• Providing a seamless customer experience across the ADC network
• Undertake initial underwriting of business from the Regional & Satellite Managers, Financial Advisors to ensure sound acceptance of risk thereafter forward to the Claims & Underwriting Manager.
• Delegated Authority: As per the approved Delegated Authority Matrix
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
• Deliver on performance requirements as defined in the departments’ strategy map, balanced scorecard and Personal Scorecard.

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required

• Bachelor degree (BA / Marketing option preferred). MBA is an added advantage.
• Professional qualification in Insurance (ACII or equivalent qualification).
• 4-6 years successful sales management experience (financial sector preferred).
• Proven experience working with teams within a Financial Services Industry (Banking and Finance/ Insurance).
• Extensive experience in ensuring sales targets are met through managing the entire sales process from prospecting to closure.
• Demonstrated track record in sales to enhance the overall top line performance of a company.
• Knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements
• Knowledge of insurance products
• MS Office skills

• Increase operational efficiency;
• Provide access to accurate and consistent information and services across all channels;
• Improve quality and speed of decision making across the business.
