Contract terms Full time 10 months’ renewable based on performance and availability of funds by the donor
Duty station Kyaka 11 Refugee Settlement

About Us
Joint Efforts to Save the Environment (JESE), is a national Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) established in 1993 with a desire to increase household food security, through sustainable agricultural production and livelihood improvement amongst the rural communities. Other JESE thematic areas of focus include Natural Resources Management, Governance and Energy, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Youth Skills Development. Our work spans 2 decades, operating in Western Uganda, Albertine region, and in Northern Uganda.

Care International in Uganda in partnership Joint Effort to Save the Environment (JESE) with funding from the Church of Jesus Christ of the Lataday Saints (LDS) is implementing a one-year project “Fill the Nutrition Gap” aimed at increasing the availability and consumption of nutritious foods for women, children and youth in the Kyaka II settlement.

Job Summary
Provide household extension and training on livestock production and management practices aimed at improving production and productivity, food and nutrition security at household level.

Specific Responsibilities
1. Organize and conduct trainings on good animal production and management practices, diseases prevention and control measures.
2. Conduct household extension visits to offer advisory services to beneficiaries on good animal production and management practices, diseases prevention and control measures.
Support and monitor the Community Based Livestock Facilitators on livestock management through their extension.
4. Coordinate distribution exercises of livestock to be provided by the project to the beneficiaries.
Liaise with local government institutions and technical staff (Vet Officers) to offer supplementary technical support and advice to the target beneficiaries.
Collect and keep data survival and multiplication rates on livestock provided by the project to the beneficiaries.
7. Prepare concept notes and action plans
8. Attend stakeholder meetings at district level, OPM and UNHCR
9. Identify and document success/change stories from the project beneficiaries
10. Compile activity reports
11. Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Coordinator

Education Requirement
• A diploma in Animal Health and Production/Animal husbandry from a recognized institution.

Working Experience
• The candidate should possess not less than 3 years of relevant working experience preferably with an NGO or the Private sector in the field of agriculture, agribusiness and enterprise development and understanding of nutrition and gender dynamics is paramount. S/he should possess excellent documentation, communication and report writing skills. Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages spoken in the target areas (Kyaka 11 refugee settlement) is considered an asset.
