Joint Medical Store (JMS) is a Church founded private not-for-profit organization whose mission is to supply medicines, medical equipment and related healthcare services, and training of assured quality to the people of Uganda at affordable prices; Whereas Gradian Health Systems is in the business of curating, manufacturing and selling medical technology and equipment.

Job Summary:

The Biomedical Engineering Officer – Project Development and Management will carry out Project Development and Management in line with biomedical engineering requirements with special emphasis to management of Gradian Health Systems equipment in Uganda

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project Development and planning.
  • Project Milestone Tracking.
  • Ensuring high performance of JMS DBME Biomedical Engineering solutions distributed.
  • Relationship and stakeholder management.
  • Write grants / proposals to increase BME equipment sales and impact to health care delivery improvement.
  • On board new clients for Medical Equipment.
  • Write project update reports as agreed per project.
  • Motivate project implementers to meet project guidelines as scoped.
  • Repair and maintain broken down medical equipment.
  • Keep track of performance of JMS – supplied medical equipment.
  • Ensure full functionality of the JMS-Bridge.
  • Maintain an Inventory Management System at all times.
  • Do periodic report sharing with the necessary project updates.
  • Crisis management in the event that expectations are or are perceived to have not been met
  • Ensure internal and external team cohesion and unity towards the achievement of the project goals.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelors in Biomedical or Electro-mechanical or Electronic Engineering or the equivalent or diploma with minimum two years’ experience as a biomedical engineer or technician in with significant experience in Uganda.
  • Knowledge and exposure to equipment repair and maintenance.
  • High Proficiency in MS Office computing.
  • History of outstanding interpersonal skills with biomedical technicians, clinical providers, and hospital administrators.
  • At least 3 attempts at Grant and /or Proposal writing.
  • Experience of being a team leader or a Project Manager will have an added advantage.
  • English Fluency; written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capacity to manage high stress situations.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage various project elements simultaneously.

  • Big-picture thinking and vision
  • Attention to detail
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge on a wide range of Medical equipment, particularly anesthesia and critical care devices
