Job Description


The Biostatistician shall be responsible for collecting, analysing, processing, storing and retrieving data on health in the Hospital including its three Health Centres

Duties and Responsibilities
• Heading the Medical Records department of the Hospital
• Coordinating with the other records staff to ensure that the Health Management Information System
• (HMIS) is regularly updated and managed
• Collecting and analysing data on health-related issues
• Actively involved in producing the annual reports of the Hospital and other related reports required by other Partners like UCMB
Supporting disease surveillance, monitoring disease thresholds and notifying relevant officers in cases of upsurges and outbreaks.
• Ensuring HMIS data quality is complete, timely and correct
Participating in Quality Assurance activities of the Hospital
• Conducting support supervision and guiding on data improvement
• Implementing measures for maintaining data security
• Supporting health research activities and programs
• Imparting knowledge and skills to staff on information and data management
• Compiling and submitting reports on health information Management
• Any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by accredited supervisors

Qualifications:
• Must have a Bachelor of Statistics or Biostatistics or Applied Economics or Quantitative Economics or related qualification from a recognised Institution
• Should be computer literate with skills in Statistical Packages/Spreadsheets like Microsoft Excel, SPSS, Stata, Epi Info etc. and common programming languages. He/she should be able to interact with at least one of the common relational database management systems like Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, MySQL, IBM DB2 etc.
• Should have served in a similar position for at least 3years
• The ideal candidate should have excellent data analysis and report writing skills and possess a high level of interpersonal skills
• Must not be more than 40yrs of age
