Job Description
Our Client Cipla Quality Chemical Industries Limited (CiplaQCIL) is the largest pharmaceutical manufacturer in East Africa and one of the largest in SubSaharan Africa (SSA). CiplaQCIL is a World Health Organization (WHO) cGMP compliant facility that manufactures a range of WHO pre-qualified medicines for treating HIV/AIDS and malaria. The company manufactures antiretrovirals, artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs) and, Hepatitis medicines, to treat HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and Hepatitis respectively. CiplaQCIL is seeking to recruit a dynamic, confident, experienced, and professionally competent self-motivated individual, to fill the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Operating Officer will oversee the design, enhancement, implementation, reporting of the company’s commercial, manufacturing and supply chain functions, with continuous improvement through strategy, direction, execution of the operations and motivate employees to produce in compliance with internationally acceptable standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop and implement strategies and policies for the company’s commercial and manufacturing operations to achieve business revenue targets in compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
• Develop and implement activities for promoting CiplaQCIL products in East Africa and the rest of Africa, providing market intelligence to inform decision making and strategy formulation.
• Ensure appropriate planning procedures are in place in terms of capacity and material resource to optimize delivery schedule.
• Develop policies and procedures to maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and ethical standards.
• Provide strategic leadership for continuous improvement to ensure a high quality of performance,
• Manage and oversee warehouse and logistics function and make strategic decisions to improve productivity and warehouse efficiency.
• Ensure necessary R&D support in compliance with quality and regulatory standards,
• Drive people and process initiatives to deliver expected results for the organization and manage risk.
Qualifications and Experience
• A Bachelor’s Degree in a Science related field
• A Master’s Degree in a business management related field,
• At least twenty years (20) working experience of which not less than ten (10) years must be at a senior management and leadership position in a pharmaceutical, FMCG or manufacturing sector,
• Demonstrated leadership skills, people skills, problem solving and decision-making skills,
• Ability to work in a matrix environment,
• Ability to manage high levels of complexity, ambiguity, and change,
• Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills; and
• Aptitude in fast decision-making and holistic problem-solving
