Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and passionate cinematographer to join our media team as we embark on a revolutionary show aimed at disrupting business reporting in Uganda. This show focuses on aspects of a green and circular economy, and impactful storytelling for behavioral change and positive societal impact. The ideal candidate should possess a deep interest in sustainability matters and demonstrate knowledge of shooting impactful stories. They should be driven by a desire to create informative, creative, and disruptive stories that contribute to a better society.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Concept Development – 20%
• Collaborate with the creative team to develop innovative concepts for the show.
• Generate compelling visual ideas that align with the show’s mission and objectives.
• Research and stay up-to-date with sustainability trends and green reporting practices
Videography – 50%
• Spearhead shot planning and execution by developing shot lists and storyboards that align with the show’s vision, select appropriate camera equipment and accessories based on shot requirements to ensure high-quality footage in various shooting scenarios, such as interviews, events, and on-location shoots.
• Set up lighting and exposure to achieve desired visual effects by creating appropriate lighting moods to enhance the storytelling and visual impact of scenes.
• Operate professional cameras and related equipment proficiently by applying advanced camera techniques, such as panning, tracking, and stabilizing shots to convey emotions and enhance storytelling.
• Keen attention on audio recording to capture high-quality sound while selecting and using the right microphones and audio recording equipment to ensure clear and balanced audio levels during shooting and sync sound effectively.
• Design, apply and maintain artistic consistency in the show visual aesthetics by executing creative approaches to cinematography, considering framing, color, and visual style.
• Maintain and organize camera equipment, ensuring it is in proper working condition while staying updated with the latest camera technologies and advancements in the industry.
• Work closely with the producer and host to ensure a smooth production process by communicating effectively to understand and execute the creative vision while providing input and suggestions for enhancing visual storytelling and production quality.
• Provide technical and creative input during the post-production process to edit, review and select the best content for the final piece that meets the desired visual and storytelling requirements.
Editing and Branding – 30%
• Edit and post-produce footage, creating engaging and impactful storytelling sequences.
• Incorporate branding elements into the visuals to maintain consistency and enhance the show’s identity.
• Collaborate with the creative team to develop visually appealing graphics, animations, and effects.
• Ensure the final product aligns with the show’s vision and maintains high production standards.
Requirements:
• At least 3 years of proven experience as a cinematographer, with a strong portfolio showcasing proficiency in concept development, shooting, and editing.
• Deep interest and knowledge in impact storytelling for behavioral change and experience in business reporting and environment reporting for entrepreneurship empowerment and environmental conversation content respectively is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in using professional camera equipment, editing software, and post-production tools.
• Strong understanding of visual storytelling, composition, and branding principles that align with the trends.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment.
