Job Description


Participating, supporting and supervising the clinical team in implementation of the policies and programs, in line with the vision of SPU

Duties & Responsibilities
Provision of psychiatric services to both in patients and out patients (Assess, diagnose, manage mental health patients).
Ensure provision of psychopharmacological services to clients while maintaining proven and high standards of MHPSS practice Direct Coordination and supervision of clinical staff under their supervision.
Evaluate clinical staff activities and performance to ensure that they meet their targets
Ensure that medicines, medical supplies and other clinical supplies are stocked and stocks well monitored
Develop capacity of other clinical staff in the unit through continuous professional development initiatives and mentorship
Implementation of the Centre clients’ admission, progress evaluation and Discharge procedures
Maintain a good record keeping system and ensure that client files and documentation is up to date
Undertake continuous monitoring and evaluation of the centre activities and programs for effectiveness
Organise weekly, monthly, quarterly meeting for clinical staff and ensure timely management reporting for the Unit
Coordinate Specialists visits, client reviews and referral protocol for clients
Ensuring the Interpretation and implementation of specialists’ recommendations
Ensure all clients have treatment plans, and that they are reviewed periodically to suit the individual client needs
Establishment and maintenance of a well organised therapeutic environment to facilitate recovery.
Attending to patients respectfully in accordance with ethical standards and Safe places guidelines.
Liaise with other staff at the centre and provide any necessary support in dealing with patients (Client responsiveness) Support the team in Business Development initiatives, community awareness campaigns aimed at raising demand for Mental Health services
Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time in line with SPU vision.

Qualifications
Honors degree in Human medicine (MBChB), Master’s degree in clinical psychology from a reputable institution
Masters of Medicine in Psychiatry is an added advantage
Registration with the relevant professional body and valid practicing licence
Two years (2) of experience in similar role in clinical, primary health care or hospital setting
