About Us;
The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) is a statutory body, established in 1996 by the Capital Markets Authority Act (Cap 84) as amended, to promote, develop and regulate the capital markets industry. CMA is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.
The CMA is mandated by law to:
• Approve prospectuses and other offering documents under which securities are offered to the public.
• Develop the capital markets through removal of impediments and the creation of incentives for longer term investments in productive enterprises.
• Create, maintain and regulate a market in which securities can be issued and traded in an
orderly, fair and efficient manner.
• Cooperate with, any foreign regulatory authority in the performance of its duties;
• Implement regional and international standards and best practice in securities markets, securities regulation and supervision.
• Protect investors; and
• Operate an investor compensation fund.

The work of the CMA is also governed by the Securities Central Depositories Act, 2009 and the
Collective Investment Schemes Act, 2003.
To deliver on its mandate efficiently and effectively, CMA is seeking to hire qualified and self- motivated individuals to fill the following position on Contract basis:

Job Title: Communications And Public Relations Manager
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Job Purpose
Coordinate the communications & Public Relations activities and act as official spokes person of the organization.

Responsibilities /Key Deliverables
1. Act as the Authority’s spokesperson;
2. Advise the CEO on media and public relations affairs of the Authority;
2. Initiate and Develop policies, strategies and plans for the public relations and communications activities and coordinate implementation in line with approved budget;
3. Facilitate CMA investor and issuer awareness and educational activities;
4. Liaise with line departments to develop press briefs, organize press conferences and events that provide information to the general public and CMA’s key stakeholders;
5. Communicate CMA’s activities, events and achievements publicly;
6. Responsible for the Authority’s web-site in collaboration with the Information Technology Officer.

Person Specification
Education & Training
• A Post-Graduate qualification (Masters’ degree preferred) in Business / Public Administration, Communications, Marketing or other related field.
• A Bachelor’s (Honors) degree

Skills & Experience
• A minimum of Six (6) years’ work experience of which three (3) should have been in a managerial role in a reputable organisation.
• post-qualification work experience in a media, public affairs, or public relations role
• Must have led a team of communications / media professionals.
