Job Description


Right To Play is an international organization with a mission to protect, educate, and empower children to rise above adversity using the power of play. We are implementing the Multi – Tusobola Project, funded by the Third Millennium Foundation, which promotes equitable quality education, life skills, and health-related outcomes among children and youth in Naguru and Kinawataka communities.

Short-term employment services

As part of the Endline Evaluation for the Multi – Tusobola Project, Right To Play Uganda is recruiting 10 Data Collectors. These Data Collectors will support the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team in gathering high-quality data through participatory approaches that amplify the voices of children, teachers, parents, and community members. The evidence generated will inform project outcomes, donor accountability, and future programming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend mandatory training on evaluation tools, participatory methods, and data collection procedures.
  • Participate in tool pretesting to ensure usability and reliability.
  • Conduct interviews and group discussions with children, youth, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders using established protocols and digital tools (SurveyCTO).
  • Achieve daily and overall survey targets.
  • Check collected data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency before submission.
  • Safeguard respondent confidentiality and adhere to ethical research guidelines.
  • Properly maintain assigned equipment such as tablets and chargers.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the MEL team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related field.
  • At least 3 months of relevant experience in data collection or field research.

  • Prior experience using participatory approaches such as interviews, focus group discussions, or storytelling is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of probing techniques and research methods.
  • Ability to use digital tools, especially Survey CTO.
  • Preferably resident in Kampala.

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to walk long distances and work in hard-to-reach areas.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in teams and independently.
  • Commitment to ethical standards and child safeguarding in research.
  • Fluency in English and at least one local language (e.g., Luganda).

Work Schedule

  • 10 working days, plus 2 days of training.
  • 8 hours per day.
