Medical Teams International is a faith-based not for profit health relief and development organization with a Calling “Daring to love like Jesus, we boldly break barriers to health and restore wholeness in a hurting world”. MTI-UG has operations in West Nile and South Western Uganda. We provide comprehensive Primary Health Care, Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS and Nutrition. MTI-Uganda is seeking to recruit highly competent, dynamic, trainable and experienced candidate to fill the following position;
JOB TITLE: Deputy Country Director
REPORTS TO: Country Director
LOCATION: Kampala, Uganda with 25% in-country travel to field locations
POSITIONS One (1)
POSITION NUMBER: 19559
CONTRACT DURATION: One (1) year renewable based on performance and availability of funding

Position Summary

• The Deputy Country Director (DCD) will be an individual who is ready, skilled, focused and faithful.
• He/she will embrace Medical Teams’ Calling.
• This role has overall responsibility for continuous quality improvement at a strategic, operational and tactical level to enhance program effectiveness.
• The DCD will liaise with Medical Teams headquarters Logistics Director, Global Programs Director, Finance Director and HR Director to develop and implement country office operational objectives.
• The DCD will provide senior leadership and oversight to Uganda country office operations departments.

Qualification

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management or equivalent academician management experience in humanitarian operations
• Five years progressively responsible operations management experience. .
• Proven track record of achieving results in humanitarian contexts in the areas of finance, inventory management, fleet management, and procurement. Change management experience in business systems such as ERP including implementation and integration.
• Familiarity with the humanitarian health sector.
• Living and working in East Africa, especially Uganda.
• Commitment to Medical Teams International Calling Statement and Core Values. . Understanding of institutional donor regulations, especially US Government and UN.
• Ability to build and maintain strong working internal and external relationships and represent Medical Teams International in a professional and competent manner with government, donors, partners and other stakeholders.
• Strong financial management skills and knowledge
• and experience of working with an ERP software or other finance management IT solutions.
• Effective communication and collaboration across cultural, geographical, and structural boundaries, engaging positively and constructively with colleagues.
• Ability to influence and manage relationships in a way to achieve outcomes where there is no direct line management. .
• Proven people management and interpersonal skills, including performance management and the ability to apply situational leadership and coaching methods.
• Strong project management and organizational skills; results oriented and comfortable making decisions.
• Demonstrable understanding of, and commitment to, humanitarian principles, humanitarian response work, and child protection standards.
• Fluency in English. .
• Competency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
