Job Overview:
Build and lead a proactive business enabling function that is recognized as best in class in its delivery and deployment of Environmental, Sustainability and Biodiversity methodology.  The role applies functional and technical knowledge and skills to perform at a high level in understanding the market.  Possesses knowledge of HSE Management systems with a view to extending that knowledge to others. Demonstrates understanding of market, keeps current on stakeholder’s strategic objectives and business challenges as well as on the external market Advising & Partnering.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Provide Environmental information and training to contractors and Project personnel.
• Monitor all activities at the construction site that are potentially harmful to personnel and the environment and determine methods to improve or prevent them.
Monitors incidents to review causes, recommending action for elimination of hazards or changes to work place.
• Promote safe working practices and environmental protection awareness in all Project personnel and contractors.
• Oversee all environmental affairs, including ensuring regulatory compliance, developing site environmental protection programs, conducting environmental monitoring programs and liaising with government agencies and community relations groups.
• Ensure that the underlying strategies and commitments defined in the project Environmental Impact statement are implemented and/or addressed, and appropriately approved where circumstances dictate.
• Conduct regular inspections of facilities and work areas and ensure that the Project Manager and Resident Construction Manager are properly apprised of the accuracy of Project Housekeeping Reports as they pertain to the Environment.
• Environmental Compliance.
• Training of all Environmental employees.
• Managing the training and advancement of local employees and ensuring that knowledge of the company’s policies and procedures are included.

Essential Qualifications and Education:
• Minimum of 10-years’ experience managing environmental advisers and specialist teams within a construction environment, ideally oil and gas
• Experience of major construction and/or mining processing operations
• Detailed knowledge of environmental site investigation and remediation design/management including clean-up alternative analysis evaluations, technical impracticability application determinations, and regulatory agency interaction
• Experience of QHSES systems
• Good understanding of local and international environmental laws, regulations and norms
• Maintain key competencies associated with the QHSES function
• Communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken.
• Be conversant with local and international Environmental laws, regulations and norms.
• Degree in Environmental Sciences or similar
• Professional membership of an internationally recognized professional environmental body or institution.
