The New Vision Printing and Publishing Company Ltd is looking to recruit a dynamic and self motivated individual to fill the position of DEPUTY NEWS EDITOR, Kabalega FM.

Description of purpose:
To produce timely competitive news content that meets the Vision Group Editorial Policy and standards; that will keep the target audience informed.

Key Result Areas:
1. Deliver accurate, fair, balanced and timely competitive news to keep the audiences informed.
2. Manage the general administration of the newsroom to ensure compliance and smooth work processes.
3. Manage newsroom staff and freelance reporters to maintain a highly productive team.
4. Manage the day to day operations of the newsroom to ensure cost management.
5. Support Producer of the daily evening news hour.

Qualification and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication or Journalism from a recognized university.
3-5 years in a newsroom management position in the radio industry. or more than 5 years broadcast journalism experience.

Technical Competences:
1. Have a good eye for news, understanding of broadcast ethics
2. Proficient in the use of Newsroom software; cool edit, adobe audition and news boss.
3. Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages.
4. Proficient in English and Runyoro, Rutooro or Rugungu.
5. Hosting/on air delivery will be an added advantage.
