Job Description


OVERVIEW

Nguvu Dairy has an established production and distribution center in Gulu.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily. Oversight of the five functional areas at the Gulu site: Production, Sales, Finance, Office Management, and Equipment. Oversight of all relationships with vendors and raw material suppliers, delegating day-to-day interactions to functional area managers. Overall responsibility for telephone, Internet, and utilities for all Gulu District sites. Ensure the use and maintenance of a formal inventory tracking system.

Financial Responsibilities. Work with the General Manager to ensure accurate budgeting. Work with local staff to ensure execution of Gulu District business in accord with cash-flow projections. As needed, update budgets and cash-flow projections. Ensure timely and accurate payroll operations. Work with Nguvu accountant and oversee Nguvu Bookkeeper to ensure proper management of cash and accurate and professional management bookkeeping system. Ensure daily updating of sales, payments, and all other financial records. Monthly and ad-hoc financial reporting.

Growth of Network. The planning, implementation, opening, and ongoing executive management of new distribution sites that will be supplied from the Gulu production site. This includes recruiting, hiring, training, and ongoing management of senior staff at the distribution sites.

Improvements. Identify any areas for improvement, initiate discussion with stakeholders, and the prioritization, planning, and implementation of changes necessary to improve the humane operation and efficiencies of business and grow to full capacity of Gulu district production and sales. It is expected that the Gulu district will have monthly sales of 150,000,000 UGX. Develop and strengthen relationships with suppliers of raw materials required for Nguvu.

Human Resources. Determine staffing needs and job descriptions and oversee the hiring of all Nguvu personnel. Determine pay scale for employees based on the local job market. Establish and maintain a system for employee benefits programs. Policy and Training. Review and improve all policies and practices to maintain compliance with Ugandan law, Nguvu values, and especially with respect to maintaining a trauma-informed workplace. In consultation with stakeholders, the Gulu District Manager will research, propose, and make any changes to improve Nguvu policies. Ensure all personnel have proper training. Participate in training for maintaining a trauma-informed workplace. Receive and deliver management training. In partnership with functional area managers, develop orientation material for all new staff, including training about work ethics, fostering a positive work environment, and expectations of behavior for Nguvu staff.

Replication. Work with staff to develop all needed documentation for the replication of Gulu district operations in other regions.

Legal and Governmental. Obtain and maintain any permits required for any facet of the business as required by Ugandan law. Ensure compliance with all Ugandan laws. Timely filing of all required filings, returns, and legal documents.

Experience
● Experience managing a cash business and operational experience handling, accounting for, and securing large amounts of cash.
● Experience budgeting.
● Experience training and managing a team.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS PACKAGE
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and will be subject to all such deductions as required by the laws of Uganda.
Working hours are fixed at 48 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and a half day Saturday. Exceptionally, work outside these hours will be expected provided that the maximum working hours shall not exceed 56 hours per week or ten hours per day.
