Job Description


The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) seeks to hire a suitable candidate for the position of Entomology Laboratory technician for the LLIN Bio Efficacy Study. The successful candidate will be based at the Medical Entomology Insectary at Central Public Health Laboratories (CPHL), Butabika.

Job description
• Preparation of LLINs in accordance to WHO protocols for Bio-efficacy testing and chemical analysis
• Conducting LLIN cone assays on different net types for assessment of Bio-efficacy using established protocols
• Recording, data entry, reporting and presentation of outputs
• Mosquito colony rearing and maintenance of susceptible and resistant mosquito colony lines.
• Characterization of resistant colonies Insectary maintenance.
• Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and internationally acceptable quality control and quality assurance standards.
• Adherence to strict Professional code of conduct and Research Ethics
• Sample storage, data recording and archiving of technical reports Dissemination of findings

Qualifications and other desirables for the job:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical lab technology
2. Diploma in Medical entomology and parasitology
At least a year of experience in entomology related activities
