Job Description


Ubuntu Law and Justice Centre is an not for profit feminist organisation founded to provide to holistic access justice solutions and intersectional gender justice remedies in Uganda.

Job Summary
The Finance and Administrative Officer will be responsible for ensuring effective and efficient administrative support is provided to the organisation. This includes
overseeing and managing finance, human resources, administration, logistics, security,
communication, IT and the upkeep and management of all ubuntu assets and property of the organization.

Roles for the Finance Assistant.
• Prepare and maintain financial records of accounts according to generally accepted accounting principles and consistent with policies and procedures set forth in UBUNTU policies.
• Manage and control the organization’s assets, stocks and inventory in accordance with the organizational asset policies.
• Prepare, submit and present periodical reports to management in accordance with donors reporting requirements and internal reporting regulations.
• Ensure timely preparation and processing of the payroll and submission of all statutory returns by the due dates to the respective entities.
• Participate in budget formulation, implementation and ensure adherence to the project guidelines and internal policies.
• Carry out timely procurement of goods and services in accordance with donor agreements and organization policies.
• Participate in end of month processes including preparing all bank and mobile money reconciliations, salary allocations across all projects, liquidating accountabilities and preparing balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare and track budget performance reports on the monthly basis for review by the supervisor.
• Maintain files and documentations thoroughly and accurately in manner that eases retrieval for audit, donor reporting and other usage.
• Any other duties assigned

Relevant Skills and Experience
• A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, commerce with not less than stage II of ACCA or CPA
• At least 3 years of relevant working experience in a multi-donor environment.
• Experience with computerized accounting software packages like QuickBooks, with good working knowledge of excel will be an added advantage
• Able to perform routine Accounting and Financial Management including but not limited to budget control and management, transaction management, enforcement of internal controls and accounting support to other finance staff as allocated by your supervisor
• Should be mature, with stable personality and able to work with others in harmony.
• Fluency in written and spoken English
