Our Client, a Tier 1 commercial bank in Uganda with a presence in Africa, is implementing an ambitious transformation program to enhance its Customer and Employee value proposition through digitalization. The bank seeks to recruit high performing, transformational and experienced leaders to join their Senior Leadership team.

Head, Information Technology
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Information Technology(IT) will be responsible for providing strategic oversight over the IT Department. They will lead the Bank’s Digital transformation program in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and lead implementation of the bank’s Digital and IT strategy in line with the Group policy.
• Lead the digital transformation of the bank in line with the Group business strategy.
• Drive alignment between business and technology to maximize return on technology investments.
• Review and report on the technology performance of the bank against approved operating plans.
• Develop strategies to establish and maintain efficient reporting requirements.
• Develop and monitor the IT budget in line with the in-country capital and operating expenditure policies.
• Review IT audit reports and ensure compliance with agreed standards and deliverables.
• Lead the execution of IT operations and ensure adequate documentation and reporting of all local IT Operations in line with local banking regulations.
• Lead the implementation of IT Risk Management measures such as back-ups, disaster recovery and IT Security
• Review and monitor IT Change Management processes.
• Coordinate IT audits and respond to issues and recommendations raised.
• Provide leadership, coaching and talent management for the IT team in Uganda.

Knowledge & Experience
• A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• A Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• Professional qualification in Information Technology, such as Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or related field.
• Membership to a recognized professional IT body.
• A minimum of 10 years of work experience in a busy IT environment of a financial services institution, of which 5 years should be in a senior management position, managing an IT function of a bank. Demonstrable experience leading a digital transformation project within a commercial banking environment.
• Experience managing a Bank’s IT function in an international or regional bank is an added advantage.
• Demonstrable business analysis, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
