Position: Head Teacher

Reports to: The School Management Committee and Board of Directors

About Us:

UNIFAT is a private nursery and primary school located within central Gulu City, registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports. It was founded in 1985 by Abitimo Rebecca Odongkara, and from its original home under a tree the school has grown to now serving over 600 children. It is a place where teachers and students teach, learn and interact with respect, love and understanding for one another, where they help each other think about the purpose of their lives, and where teachers help students realize their dreams and goals as future achievers and leaders in society. UNIFAT continues to be inclusive and welcoming to all children.
Our teachers and students work to broaden global 21st century citizenship skills. Learners have opportunities to design and implement an array of informed action projects based on the Sustainable Development Goals. The campus includes a staffed Digital Learning Center and all graduating P7 students leave with computer skills that will enhance their future endeavors. The Center and boarding halls run on solar power, assuring uninterrupted learning opportunities and evening security.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Head Teacher
1. Oversees overall administration and management of the school including admissions, fees and tuition collections, and capital projects
2. Plans, organizes, directs and co-ordinates both mandated programs and extra-curricular enriching teaching activities of staff and the students
Supervises and appraises all employees of the school in a timely manner and promotes staff professional development
4. Works collaboratively with stakeholders to design and maintain the physical infrastructure of the school
5. Possesses the ability to interact and communicate with school stakeholders, the community, families, and their learners
6. Possesses leadership skills that encourage open dialogue, consensus building, inclusivity, and diversity among all stakeholders including the learners
7. Has digital literacy skills and working knowledge of social media platforms
Collaborates with stakeholders on a 5-year strategic plan for longevity and prosperity of the school
9. Works closely with the scholarship committee to provide access to education for neediest children
10. Ensures proper planning and accountability of school activities and resources in consultation with the Board of Directors and the Ministry of Education and Sports
Adheres to the school policies and stays abreast with all the developments and timely provision of reports
12. Has good on-time management and organization skills
13. Performs any other duties assigned by the relevant authority

Qualifications
1. Minimum qualification of a bachelor’s degree in / with education from a recognized learning institution
2. Must be registered as a graduate teacher with the Ministry of Education and Sports
3. A minimum of ten (10) years teaching experience
