Job Description


The Head of Treasury will manage and direct the activities of the Treasury function in the Bank to ensure efficient and effective delivery of the full range of treasury products including foreign exchange, fixed income, optimum balance sheet management, corporate services, and off-balance sheet products to achieve the unit’s business growth targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.

• Develop and execute investment strategies for investment of surplus funds in treasury bills, bonds and other money market instruments.
• Manage the dealing/interbank borrowing, lending, foreign exchange activity and build cordial and vibrant relationship with all financial institutions.
• Actively identify and market clients with potential to grow revenues from sales of treasury products and services.
• Conduct dealing/interbank borrowing, lending and foreign exchange activity from end to end to ensure that all the Bank’s interest are protected, and financial targets are met.
• Monitor funds in all the Nostro accounts to ensure adequate funds to meet payment obligations and surplus funds gainfully invested.
• Carry out pricing of all foreign exchange, money market & extra base rate pricing and tenors while ensuring that interest rate and foreign exchange spreads are maintained to meet overall financial targets and mitigate market risks.
• Develop innovative treasury products that will enable the Bank to grow its foreign exchange, money market volumes and revenues and cascade throughout the Bank.
• Deliver market insight to customers; build, foster and maintain relationships with clients.
• Ensure that all trading and sales activities by the Bank are within set counterparty and regulatory limits.
• Participate and drive in the banks ALCO process and Strategy.
• Employ stellar customer service principles in the unit with respect to handling both internal and external customers.
• Drive engagements with counter parties and stakeholders’ drive.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• A Bachelors’ degree from a recognized institution in Statistics/ Business Administration/ Accounting/ Commerce/ Economics / Finance or any business-related field.
• A Master’s Degree in Business Administration/Economics or in relevant field will be an added advantage.
• Professional certification in ACI*, CFA, ACCA, and CPA.
• At least 7 years’ relevant work experience, 3 of which should have been in a leadership position.
• Extensive knowledge of the financial services dynamics, international standards, and local regulations.
• Sound knowledge of the business environment and economic dynamics of Uganda and the East African region.
• Experience in Dealing and Banking.
