Job Description


Medical Teams International is a faith-based not for profit health relief and development organization with a Calling “Daring to love like Jesus, we boldly break barriers to health and restore wholeness in a hurting world”. MTI-UG has operations in West Nile, Mid-Western and Southwestern Uganda. We provide Comprehensive Primary Health Care, Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS and Nutrition to people of concern and the local communities. MTI-Uganda is seeking to recruit highly competent, dynamic, trainable, and experienced candidate to fill the following positions:

JOB TITLE: Health Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Director of Programs
LOCATION: Kampala with frequent travel to the field
POSITIONS: One (1)

QUALIFICATION
• Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine & Surgery (MBChB) is required
• Postgraduate qualification in Public Health, Monitoring & Evaluation or Project Planning & Management is an added advantage
• Registration with Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council is required

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE
• Minimum 5 years of work experience in public health, inclusive of at least 2 years in a humanitarian context is required .
• Proven experience in project management and budget monitoring
• Experience with an international NGO or UN agency is required
• Ability to support MTI Calling and adhere to the MTI Code of Conduct
• In-depth knowledge of humanitarian operations and project cycle management
• In-depth knowledge of Uganda MoH, WHO and UN health systems and policies
• Knowledge of health strengthening methods and best practices
• Knowledge of principles and current approaches to monitoring and evaluation in relief and development programs
• Skilled in project cycle management
• Skilled in capacity building and mobilizing staff to achieve a common goal
• Skilled in relationship building with the ability to liaise with multiple partner agencies
• Skilled in using HIS and HMIS database systems
• Ability to travel to health facilities frequently and at times upon short notice
• Ability to be decisive in emergency situations and use sound judgment
• Ability to exercise considerable initiative to plan, organize and follow through to meet deadlines
