JOB DETAILS:

Our client, Horyal Investments Holding Company Ltd has commenced the process to operationalize á leading new sugar factory at AtiakUganda ,East Africa. The Factory, jointly owned by the Government of Republic of Uganda ,with annual production capacity(APC). 60,000 Tonnes of granular sugar seeks to recruit competent persons for the following position.
Job Title: Health & Safety Officer
Reports to: Safety, Health & Environment Manager

Purpose:

To design, implement, review and advise Management on safety, maintain records and reports and carry out trainings and sensitization of company workers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare, plan, implement and advise Management on all matters pertaining to safety and Occupational Health.
• Carry out all necessary inspections of company’s installation authorities to ensure that compensation to all accident victims is done in accordance to the law.
• Guide the Safety Assistant in issuing Personal Protective Equipments (PPE’s) and keep records.
• Update frequently the Safety, health and Environment Manager on issues pertaining the stock position of Personal Protective Equipments/Clothing’s.
• Constantly maintain accident record system and ensure that all reporting requirements and corrective measures are complied with.
• Prepare a safety budget for merger with the department budget.
• Ensure that all reporting requirements and corrective measures are complied with.
• Analyze and interpret incidents data to assess whether they are genuine accidents according to the Company’s Environment & Safety policy
• Co-ordinate with the training section to carry out training programs and with the Company Doctor to ensure a safe and healthy working environment,
• Enforce the safety, health and environment policy of the company to the subordinate staff.
• Perform any other related duties as maybe assigned by the Safety, Health & Environment Manager Management from time to time

Specific knowledge & Skills:

• Good Supervisory skills,
• Skills in promoting safety practices,
• Good communication and interpersonal Skills

Required Education qualification:

• A BSC. Degree in Biological /Physical Sciences or Environment

Experience:

• A minimum of two (2) years working experience in a similar job with a reputable organization.
Age: 25-40 Years

Job Education: BSC. Degree in Biological /Physical Sciences

Job Experience: 2 years

Work Hours: 8
